Drink if You Got Em

Let me lead by saying this is not a Playpen post.

If you plan on going to the Alabama game, be forewarned the entry time and lines will be long.

Maybe if you’re lucky they’ll open the stadium five hours early like they did for the Tennessee vs Texas game and let you get half priced beers.

Let’s not forget that this isn’t the first time Trump went to Alabama for a game against Georgia, last time being in 2024.

Ugh. Let’s hope we established a new baseline in the SECCG last year.

  1. Inconveniencing everyone in attendance for a few minutes of camera time. Yeah, that checks out. I’ll leave out the rest of my commentary about priorities and tone-deafness.

Glad it’s a late game, at least. That allows entry to space out a little. Heck, maybe it plays out in our favor where all the Alabama students who wait until the last minute to come in for the sake of an extra liquor drink don’t make it in until the second quarter.

  2. I went in ‘24 and it wasn’t as bad as I expected. The game was at 6:00 or 7:00 CT so we went in at 4:00ish and the line was normal at that time. The weird part was going through a full TSA airport style scanner and then getting patted down by the Secret Service (everyone did). After that, it was a normal game, except that we went down 4 TDs in the first half or whatever. Tuscaloosa was rockin’ that day and it was a fun experience despite the loss. The upcoming game will be seismic if BAMA wins today and it’s a top 5 matchup. Not looking ahead though! Go Dawgs!! Beat Vandy!!

    • Me too — wasnt that bad and I didn’t enter @ 4pm. Think we went in around six. I’ve been to other sporting events that took longer to get into the stadium. I think the teams dislike due to the coms being effected while Pres in attendance (I think).

  3. I’m still mad his visit to the 2017 NCG cost me a $100. That was the fee Arthur Blank’s company charged me for a prime parking spot. That was blocked off due to the president’s visit. Still waiting on my refund Arthur.

I don’t care which party or politician it is stay away from CFB games.

Just another example of those running the sport showing us they care nothing about the fans in the stands. Our dollars are taken for granted. CFB is used to enable the current set of power brokers. In this case those few who will be in the president’s photo op.

  4. I will be at this game, sitting next to my Alabama-fan cousin. Looking forward to it as it is my first visit.

Politics-neutral, I am not a fan of a(ny) President doing this for College football. Weirdly, I can see this more applicable for Pro games but I am a boomer (or on the line).

  5. It will inconvenience a lot more bammers than Dawgs so I’ll allow it. Now I don’t want any president showing up at Sanford, so there’s that.

  6. Trump coming to a Georgia bama game is worse than Corso picking Georgia. Munson Defcon level 1.

  7. My first experience with a President at a game was for the 1980(1) Sugar Bowl vs Notre Dame. Jimmy Carter took his staff at the last minute and it was not pleasant. On the other hand, we won.

  8. I understand the need for security for any president. The thing is, there is already security screening. Put up some bulletproof glass around whatever box he’s in, bring in some more police and leave the rest of us alone.
