Good morning! Day 2 of the countdown to Dawgs football. But, first, how bout them Diamond Dawgs? Still leading 15-1 as I’m writing. Yeah, rain suspended the Dawgs first game of the regional to 9:02 this morning. Once done, they will take on Liberty around 5:00 this afternoon. I’m on my way to Athens to sit on Kudzu Hill if I can find my way there.
We’re 98 days away:

Saw this on X/Twitter last night:
I was too young to remember Stanfill playing for UGA. But, I sure as hell remember him as a Miami Dolphin. Damn Good Dawg. I have an autographed football from him in my curio cabinet of sports memoribilia.
Go Dawgs!
The Old Ball Sack STILL has nightmares about Bill Stanfill.
“What’s the matter Stevie, did I ruffle your dress?” 😂
I just read Stanfill’s Wikipedia page. Football certainly took its toll on the poor man.
WOW, had not read it.
Sad
One story l heard about him and Stevie. Stanfill sacked him the first time in Jax, Bill told him” my name is Bill Stanfill, my number is 77, and I’ll be back”! It was a long day for Spurrier !!
Quite a man. Through curious means I have a football signed by him that led to a Jake Scott signing as well. My son went to church with his son. I asked him to see if he could get him to sign it. He said he would take it to him and try. Well, curiously Jake Scott came to town to visit when he had the ball and he got him to sign it too. That ball has now been signed by Trippi, Fran, Herschel, Munson, Dooley, Richt, Knowshon, Stafford, Woerner, Butler, Lindsay, Buck, Murray, Garrison, Champ, Greene, Pollack, Loran and D.J.
Needless to say it is prized and will be my Grandson’s when my time is done. TBD was real for Bill. Blees his soul and a really good DGD.
That Jake Scott autograph is special, don’t think he signed many after football when he disappeared off the face of the earth.
You got that right. My wife and I once saw him and said hello in a bar in Princeville, HI. Pure luck that he came to visit Stanfill and signed it. Such a stud defensive team that 68 bunch.
If your grandson has no interest in it, I’ll be happy to keep it safe for you. lol That’s a great hand me down, your grandson will cherish it.
Talked myself out the trip to Athens today, weather too iffy for a 6 hour round trip drive. My butt is firmly planted on the dock watching baseball regional action as I wait for the Dawgs at 5:00 today. Bout to pop a top on a cold adult beverage.
Life is good.
On a separate note, The Syrupmakers is the best school nickname on the planet hands down.
