Granted, nothing matters until the kids actually enroll and start practicing on campus, but Kirby had an absolute killer week in recruiting, which saw Georgia rapidly climb the recruiting rankings up to #2 in the nation.
Here’s a nice summary about seven recruits in seven days:
Go Dawgs!
Someone must have struck oil in Hazlehurst.
Trust in Kirby
What Kirby is proving is that relationships matter, and the UGA development discount really does exist. Throw in on top of that the overwhelming advantage with in-state prospects. Talent at the top end overall may be getting more dispersed. Blue chips in Georgia aren’t … the Dawgs still get more than our share.
Kaiden Prothro and Tyler Atkinson, come on down!
JP, we appreciate the attention to recruiting, gotta have the Jimmy’s and Joe’s!!
“I may not have a lot to give,
But what I got, I’ll give to you,
I don’t care to much for money,
Money can’t buy me love”….
Fire. Energy. Passion…..come on down….GO DAWGS!!
Most fun recruiting week since 2017. If they can get Prothro, Atkinson, Cooper and another tackle, the class is done.
I don’t think Smart is “struggling” with anything NIL related. What he is doing is allocating his NIL resources, which for any college are finite. We are are in on lots of blue chip recruits spread along all other positions. Smart wants to be competitive with all of them.
Consider this hypothetical. We have $10 million in NIL available. Wr have 20 blue chips we are in with. A hypothetical team, let’s call it “Hurricanes,” has $10 million and is in on 5 blue chips. That team can offer one guy $5 million and has $5 million left to spread around 4 blue chips. By contrast, because we are in on more kids if we match the $5 million for that 2 kid that leaves us with $5 million to spread amount among 19 kids, not 5.
We are not struggling. We are being smart.
.
Hope there’s a Jordan Davis, McConkey, and/or Dan Jackson in the group.
As an old Dawg that doesn’t follow recruiting as much as I used to, how many players pick UGA so as to get more NIL action from our competitors. As we all know “it ain’t over til it’s over” signing day is a long time from now.
NIL is over.
