27 Days, Tribute to Number 27

Sorry for the late posting, but couldn’t let day 27 go by without adding this.

The first was as fun to watch as the last. Not sure who is on your Mount Rushmore of DGDs, but Chubb is definitely on mine.

Go Dawgs!

  1. “Damned good Dawg” doesn’t do him justice. Great player, great teammate, great representative of UGA.

  2. Love the one shoe TD. Love the Rose bowl moment. “NOT DOWN YET”.

  3. Three of the top 4 all time UGA rushing yard leaders were in the same backfield in 2014 (Chubb, Gurley and Michel.) I get the Herschel Walker love; I spent years calling him the best player in NCAA history. That said, had Gurley not missed games due the hamstring injury, the McGarity Hari Kari and the knee injury Gurley would have had a chance to be the all time rushing leader. In my opinion he was better than Walker.
Walker did have one significant advantage over Gurley, however, and that was durability.

    • Walker:

      33 games
      994 carries
      5259 yards
      49 TDs

      24-0 in SEC play.

No one comes close. Its obscene.

For example, Gurley played 3 fewer games and had 2,000 fewer rushing yards. Chubb played in 14 more games and finished with 500 fewer rushing yards.

Walker is the #1 college football player ever and whats remarkable is the gap between him and whoever you put at #2 is roughly the gap that exists between #2 and whoever is last.

      • Gurley also had almost 500 fewer carries. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but there is an argument to be made.

      • You’re right about HW’s stats, but to some extent you’re comparing apples and oranges. HW played for Dooley whose coaching philosophy was ‘3 things can happen when you throw a pass and two of them are bad.’ But I also watched HW in person enough to be confident in saying that there has never been an equivalent physical specimen to HW anywhere and certainly not at UGA. Separated shoulder in the Sugar Bowl? Well, now at least we know he’s human, but he can handle it, put him back in.

But the question was: Who is on your Mt. Rushmore? Chubb deserves that, and not just for his stats but also character and leadership. In fact, we have so many guys that deserve it one mountain can’t hold them all.

  4. Herschel, Chubb, Gurley, Worley, Trippi, Hearst, on and on….. RBU and I don’t give a shit what any other fan base says.
