Pruitt deserves the blame for the 2014 South Carolina game. Offense scored 35, defense gave up 38.

Agreed on the field goal. And I went and looked back at the stats (because I’m a masochist I guess), and Marshall Morgan had missed another field goal earlier in the game. He was 2/4 that day.

Some great choices already listed. I’ll go into the vaults for one—-Bill Lewis’ “pass defense” cost us two Sugar Bowls (and a natty) in ’81 and ’82 seasons. And any short list for horrible assistants IMO has to have Brian Schottenheimer and his derp-athetic performance in ’15.
Agreed on Schottenheimer, except for that one game where Greyson Lambert went 24/25 against South Carolina.
I was sitting in the end zone into which Marino threw the game winning TD. He had all day to throw, the TE sawed the ass off out S, ball hung in the air forever. I could have run out from row 11 and had a play on it. The TE reeled it in, ball game. Talk about the agony of defeat.

I remember the Auburn game when he was fired at halftime. Joe Kines who should have been DC replaced him. Not sure if Auburn scored in the second half. Kevin Ramsay was epically incompetent.

Obviously Schotty was shoddy…and this may rile some, but Dan Lanning leaving after the 2022 season…I think that 2023 roster was talented enough for the 3-peat…had he stayed 1 more year we would have achieved legendary status…fucking Bama
