Predicted Starters

Saw this and thought y’all would be intrigued.

For a slow Saturday conversation, where are you concerned? Where are you confident?

  1. Is Gaston hurt? No way he is not a starter on the OL. Also doubtful bobo is full go game 1.

  2. Interesting how Jah Jackson progressed. He didn’t play high school football; at 6′ 10″ and 300 pounds he was a basketball player. He was in the Overtime Elite high school program. After his senior year UGA offered strictly on his size, athletic ability and potential. He arrived as a development project and played just on PAT and FG teams. He got a good bit of scrimmage time last season and even started a game when the first and second team offensive lines were hit with injuries.
The fact that he is now RT1 is a credit to his dedication and a credit to our coaches.
He is now 6’10” and 350 and long arms with a basketball player’s agility (Overtime Elite doesn’t take stiffs.) Think Broderick Jones with greater height and weight.

  3. Dear 8 lb, 6oz sweet lil baby Jesus, please tell me that we’re SO talented and SO deep on the OL that we can afford to have Gaston as 6th man in the rotation.

    • I trust the coaches to make that call. My post about Jackson was to acknowledge how good UGA is in developing players. Gaston is another example but the difference in Gaston was years ahead of Jackson in learning the Oline before he got to Georgia. If Gaston is the starter I will be as happy as I can be.

  4. I’ll say it…I’m concerned about the playmakers on O. Defense looks real solid as does the OL with Luckie. Can Bobo work with the other skill players to have them excel? I see a lot of good but not proven as great yet. Humphries needs to get receptions downfield and we need some thunder to go with Frazier’s lightning. DCs should know by now how to contain Gunner…I hope CMB has something other than the WR screen to mix it up.

  5. With Branch gone I don’t believe we will see the screens. Gunner is such an anomaly as far as how the fans react to him. He is both loved in ways no quarterback in recent memory has been and also doubted in really odd ways ie people still saying Hes not a very good runner. It is possibly the weirdest thing I have seen this fan base do and we have a weird ass fan base.

  6. 1) Gaston will start. Whether that’s at guard and Calhoun is the 3rd guard, or at RT and Jackson is the 3rd tackle, he’s one of the best 5.
    2) I have a hard time believing that Talyn Taylor won’t be starting. Love Humphreys and maybe Canion gets past him, but doubt he gets past Taylor.
    3) Hope the end of last year helps McLeod get the confidence to be something at Nose, but getting Hall back is really key.
    4) So stoked to see that secondary in action. Loved the pickup of Barnes. Think they’ll be a really good unit.
