Those Were the Days

Hard to believe that this group is talking about a time that was only about four years ago.

“And there wasn’t no bid offer for us to go nowhere else”.

I don’t know if it’s NIL, or the unlimited transfer portal that ruins it the most, but it definitely interrupted Kirby from establishing Georgia as the “New Alabama”.

  1. If we have to pick one or the other, it is more likely that NIL has hurt Kirby the most. Kirby’s super power is recruiting, and NIL has severely diminished his abilities. Don’t get me wrong, Georgia is filled with 4 and 5 star dudes, but nowhere close to the 21 and 22 years. Chris Dimino was the first person to bring this up on 680 the Fan a year or so ago. Upon first hearing it I laughed and thought he was dead wrong, but we now see that he is right. Look at the number of kids who were slotted to come to Athens, only to receive a stack of cash at the last minute and head to Texas, Miami, or Ohio State. Our depth has been drastically reduced due to NIL.

As a side note, I believe that Kirby will leave college football within the next 3 to 4 year due to NIL and the portal.

    • Agree. Why have to worry about these kids 24/7, calls in middle of nite, recruiting & all the other headaches. One can only take so much. To Kirby, family matters!

  2. Ok, Im gonna say what all yall thinking. Is Lonnie Brown doing crystal meth? Damn, that Bama backwoods accent dont help either!

  3. I’ve said that back in the day I don’t think UGA was paying more under the table than everyone else despite what the B1G folks say. It’s that the intangibles in Athens were equal to or better than most schools. Now UGA is being outbid on the regular and it’s undeniable.

  4. Dear NCAA,

You could have solved this. You could have peeled off some revenue and shared it with the kids. But that was a bridge too far for you greedy fucks. You screamed “Amateurism” to hide the money. But the money was everywhere and in plain sight. And lots of it. Yet you even went out of your way to punish kids for $40 autographs and $100 jersey sales.

You got your ass sued and rightfully so, losing all control over everything…except what is still the lion’s share of the money. You fucked everybody in the process, especially the fans. But we’re just the frog in the pan of water not realizing it will boil soon until it does.

And you don’t care because you’ll be long dead and buried in your dandruff laden blazers when it all comes crashing down.

    Truly…go fuck yourselves.

    Disdainfully,

    College sports fans
