Gunner came in seventh in the annual beauty contest.

While there may be some joy in finishing above Haynes King, there’s little else to take from this. Also, wasn’t Archduke Manning supposed to be winning this thing this year?

How do you feel? Does the Heisman mean anything anymore?
Just one more place we’re Georgia players are under evaluated & under appreciated.
3rd team all sec, give me a break.
Keep it as bulletin board material!!
Gunner, being the country boy he is, is likely relieved he doesn’t have to go. Duck outta water and all. Besides, he’s got to beef up his shocks from hauling that damn elephant around since the SEC Championship Game. 😁
True. Also, as much as I love me some Gunner, he really needs to have a few sessions with someone in PR. It would help him to up his interview game. He seems awkward and uncomfortable every time he’s interviewed after a game.
Not as awkward as the kid from Indiana. Damn.
He manages to scream and smile at the same time.
Gunner really likes the word “awesome.”
The what?
There’s a picture going around of Gunner’s truck with an Elephant in the bed.
Would someone please post that picture… I’ll be damned if I can figure out how to do it.

Here’s where Otis explains how to do it. ⬆️ Won’t work for me and I bet I’ve tried 50-60 times. Anyway, thank you Hoss. Love that fukn picture!!
This award means less than nothing, especially this year. All I see is a solid RB and 3 QBs that are going to be drafted too high and get their NFL coach and GM fired.
It means the same as it always did. Pre cable tv and internet you were unlikely to be able to see every game and player so USC/Notre Dame/ Oklahoma and the like had their players overrated.
It is still a super cool accomplishment and has to be at the top of any person who has every played football wish list.
I suspect hoisting the NC Trophy over his head will help soothe his “hurt feelings”.
Considering that it is a pretty much quarterback award rather than “the most outstanding college football player” which is the criteria, I don’t have much use for it. I can think of several Georgia defensive players that were more outstanding college football players than Bryce Young or Caleb Williams in 2021 or 2022. Charles Woodson beating Peyton Manning in 1997 was maybe the last time that the most outstanding college football player in the country was actually selected. At least Ndamukong Suh in 2009 was a finalist (fourth) when he was clearly the most dominant player in the sport. Jalen Carter was absolutely the most dominant, game changing player in 2022 yet didn’t even get invited to New York. In my opinion, the award has become kind of a joke.
I am sure the « Indiana boy on an Indiana night… » is going to win unless sweet baby Diego does?
You really gotta milk the pause in “sssswwwweeeeeeeeet…………………………… baby boy Diego” for full effect 😉
They need to change the ballot. Every voter votes for one player for every position on an all america team. This crowd source system will assure consensus and it will not always be a QB. It may even be a defensive player.
Personally, I’ll take Gunner over anybody on that list. And, meaningless award for me.
Kdawg05
It’s always been a meaningless award, ever since 1956 when they gave it to Paul Hornung from 2-8, unranked Notre Dame. Hornung’s stats weren’t even that great, and not better than Heisman runner-up Johnny Majors of 10-1, #2 Tennessee, but you all know how much the media loves Notre Dame.
I’m surprised to see Caleb Downs on that list. I didn’t even realize that he was still at Ohio State as I haven’t heard ANYTHING about him this year.
Downs was actually the guy who went on record saying “the SEC is harder week to week than the B1G” a few weeks ago…
The Heisman hasn’t meant anything to me in a long time. The only good thing about it is that because it is essentially a quarterback award they have created awards for other positions over time. A great QB is nice to have , but teams win games.
I’d be happy if a Dawg won the Heisman. It’s a nice honor. But I don’t think it means anything more than being an All-American. Even then, I don’t lose sleep if Dawgs aren’t on All-American teams either. Awards are just, like, someone’s opinion … man.
Just gimme a Natty! (mic drop)
