The Lane to Gainesville is Paved with Geniuses

Apparently this rumor started yesterday and became so pervasive that other sites were reporting it as factual.

And…

That’s good money if you can get it. Let’s see how it plays out in the real world. Could the geniuses be on to something?

    • I thought about Big Ed when I heard Napier was gone. I hope he stays away from Hogtown, I like the guy and don’t want to have to hate him.

      • “The shrimpers and their ladies are out in the beer joints
Drinkin’ ’em down for they sail with the dawn
They’re bound for the Mexican bay of Campeche
And the deckhands are singing adios, Jole Blon”

  1. If they pay $81m to a coach that hasn’t won anything of note and has flamed out in every high-profile coaching gig (he wasn’t at Tennessee long enough to determine if it was going to work out), they really are idiots. I’m not saying Kiffin isn’t a good coach. I’m only saying that he’s done nothing to prove his worth for that kind of money.

    • Oakland Raider say “hi”!
Am I the only one old enough to remember the press conferences when Al Davis came in looking like the emperor from “Star Wars” and fired the Laner after less than a year??? Distinctly recall thinking at the time that Al has done so much crazy ****, this is like the cherry on top!

  2. If your Scott Strickland there’s only one way to win the new hire press conference. That’s announcing Lane Kiffin as your new head coach. With a contract longer than his.

  3. That’s what it will take but he ain’t leaving until December if at all.

  4. As absurd as this sounds, nothing connected to college football surprises me anymore.

  5. Wouldn’t it be fun if UF does hire the Kiffer ..and O’MS finishes the season with an interim coach who takes them to the CFP and wins it all!!!
Of course that isn’t likely to happen..but it would be fun.
That would be my second favorite scenario, just behind our Dawgs going all the way.

    • I hope Old Myth never makes it to the playoffs or ATL and that Kiffin leaves them in the middle of the night.

    • That would be epic. Has the same coach lost to the same team twice in the same season while coaching different teams? Could be one for the record books.

  6. IF, and that is very big IF, he leaves Ole Miss and the TURDS back up the Brinks truck for him, how much more are they going to have to shell out to Ole Miss to buy him out of his current contract?

      • On good word from the sister whose brother saw the facilities foreman in the parking lot with an empty wheel barrel that knows the manager at the local mickydees, who heard a customer tried to pay at the drive thru window with a coupon for a hot wax yoga session near the airport where the flight records established an unknown aircraft sighted over area 51 last week that had to land with a flat tire at Sallys hair salon, tire change and laundry service in moscow, idaho….

        • So, you’re saying the flat tire on the plane was just a ruse and that Moscow ID was the intended destination. All of this is cloak and dagger subterfuge. Lane is ACTUALLY going to be coaching at the University of Idaho next year.

        • DIW -So, was this the harelipped sister or the one with amblyopia, cause the one with the wandering eye has been known to get sideways with her information as well as her gait. It’s important to have all the facts before you lay your money down.

  7. Kirby Smart and family would approve this message. If UF is going to give Laner $13.5 million then CKS will get a nice raise.

    • You just know with all this coaching turmoil and AD/Booster insanity, Jimmy Sexton is grinning from ear to ear.

  8. more questions…
    1. Has the Lane Train made a stop at pine box Tuberville station to pick up any exit strategies?

    2. Will Ole Piss hurl Grey Poupon bottles when Lane returns?

  9. I’m not convinced he’s leaving. Maybe he stays. Maybe he goes. I am convinced that he and Jimmy Sexton will drag it out long enough to squeeze a few more millions out of Ole Miss to stay or UF to head to Hogtown. Either way Lane and Jimmy win.
