Here’s the results from Week 5.

Well, I can’t throw too much snark at Kelly, Riley, or Franklin, as Smart just laid his usual egg against Alabama, but it’s safe to say we all called it here that Penn State was vastly overrated. Despite a furious comeback at the end against the Illini, Riley has now been once again relegated to just a great West Coast recruiter, and to make matters worse for Brian Kelly, Nussmeier is now out for the year, or at least those were the initial rumors that Kelly is dispelling. Regardless, he is injured, and that ain’t helping the Bayou Bengals.
Look at Virginia! The Senator would be proud.
Regarding the SECCG poll (will Georgia make the SECCG)
- Probably not, but stranger things have happened – 52%
- I’m Thinking It’s Likely – 40%
- Confident No – 8%
- Confident Yes – 4%
Contrary to the AP poll, where Georgia plummeted 7 spots behind Alabama (of course) and Penn State only dropped five, I’d say there’s a happy balance between the Mumme and the “ball knowers” Poll. Like many of you, I can’t call us a Top 5 or Top 10 team…do we have the potential to be? Yes. My Yorkie also has the potential to be a Pit Bull…but I’d have to see it actually bite more than it barks. I remain hopeful, yet comfortably Munson at the same time.
Until next week!

I have to argue for the Pibbles. We just adopted a Red Nosed one and she is an absolute sweetheart. Hasn’t yet met a lap she didn’t like. My sister, on the other hand, has a Yorkie that craves human flesh and goes into an eye bugging, slavering fit of rage whenever I walk in her house. I’m on team Pit Bull here…
Our Staffordshire pittie is the best & most loving dog I’ve ever been around. They came by their “Nanny Dog” nickname honestly.
Once the CFP committee starts releasing rankings, I’ll change my voting strategy. Right now, I’m voting only for teams who I believe could go 16-0.
I had been just submitting a Top 10, but sent 12 teams this last vote. The only thing I see different from my thoughts is I have Tennessee higher and didn’t rank Oklahoma. I have the Sooners just outside the best 12 teams. I can’t decide on Tech. Yes they are undefeated, but they have two skin of their teeth wins over mediocre opponents and then beat a bad Colorado team, Temple, and Gardner Webb. Seems they are getting a TON of mileage out of last year’s 8 OT loss in Athens. Media loves them, but I can’t decide how good they actually are.
They are going to break Haynes King before the year is out. Despite what he’s done for them, the fools were screaming for Philo to take over at quarterback after a lackluster start in the Wake Forest game. The kid plays at level 1000 all game long, but they overuse the hell out of him. If anyone can name another offensive player for Tech, I’ll pay them a dollar. Tech IS Haynes King. And, yes, they’ve won by the skin of their teeth against very mediocre teams, but we’ve also seen years where people are given cupcake schedule just to throw the kitchen sink at their one big game of the year, and it worked. Problem is, most teams throttle the cupcakes…Tech ain’t doing that.
I’ve been voting for the teams I think could make the tournament.
