I know many of you have differing opinions on Brooks Austin, but I’m using this for a point of discussion today.
I’m no fan of Michigan at all obviously, and I’ve mentioned before that Michigan’s trip to a national championship was so layered with ethics issues that it makes Auburn’s $cam Newton championship look nearly legitimate.
My question for you is a little layered as well…would we have ever been this desperate as a fan base…also, why do you think Michigan’s actions (both the sign stealing as well as the recent allegations on accessing images of players by a coach) aren’t getting as much attention in the press as they should?
Personally I never felt the desire for Georgia to “do anything to win”. Hell, we won two rings the right way and haven’t heard the end of constant bickering about driving issues and “if so and so hadn’t been hurt”, so I’d hate to see what the downfall would’ve been had we been found to have been cheating in some kind of way. We already saw what happened with Jan Kemp in the 80s, so I’d imagine any finding against Georgia would’ve been nationally shitposted everywhere and would’ve lead to immediate college football rules reform. Yet Michigan…crickets.
Is it big money? Influential boosters? How’re they getting away with it?
Because they are in the Bug10
This. It has always seemed to me that the B1G, plus USC before they became conference rivals with Northwestern, and Notre Dame are the darlings of the national sports media.
At the same time, there seems to be a perpetual disdain (or worse) for Southern teams, as if we’re all just sitting here basking in the faded glory of the Confederacy or something. Somehow, Saban’s Bama seemed to get a pass for this. But we seemed to always second guessed or “yeah, but”-ed by everyone.
Because Saban is a Yankee.
Most, if not all the media types are born from north-northeastern brainfart educations, that’s not saying much, a short coming is just that, a handicap…GO DAWGS!!
Don’t forget about that clown Jim Harrick and his son. They made UGA MBB into a laughing stock.
I have paid for Georgia football tickets since 1972. I never have been so consumed by claiming a mythical national championship that i thought it to be worth stooping to Auburn ethics.
A couple opinions on this. First, other than their current head coach, against whom no evidence of wrongdoing has been provided to the public other than his phone deletion, all other offenders are no longer in the program or college football. Second, they self-imposed punishment (whether anyone agrees it was sufficient is is a different matter). Third, once the NCAA has an investigation, it takes so long to complete that people stop caring. Fourth, the whistleblowers who turned Michigan in and thus were the loudest critics of the school’s misdeeds just won the natty, so they don’t care anymore either.
And since the investigation isn’t over, they haven’t “gotten away with” anything yet.
This … 100! Two of the most egregious “cheating” to win NC of this century were Auburn in 2010 and Michigan in 2023. These scandals disappeared quickly because the primary aggrieved fanbases Alabama and OSU won the championship the very next year. Bama had a championship sandwich with Auburnn in between so their outrage was short-lived. OSU decided to spend way more $$ than anyone else to erase the memory of Michigan’s tainted championship.
Losers will sell their souls for anything as many times as they can. I would say starting with me but it ain’t come to that – yet…
“But if you lose, the devil gets your soul”…
I am old school, but I still believe in following the rules and ethical conduct. I would have been embarrassed and ashamed if we behaved like AU did with respect to their 2010 title. They are still lying about what was obvious to everyone, in clear violation of their bullshit creed. Unfortunately, we now live in a time where those who break the rules and who could not care less about ethics are constantly being rewarded with no ramifications.
The integrity of the Michigan Man™️has been shown to be a myth.
One of the main reasons I have always hated Michigan (they are 1a and 1b with Notre Dame) is the undeserved respect they’ve gotten from national sports media for my entire life.
No school has a higher per capita number of graduates in sports media than Michigan and it shows.
Fuck ‘em.
I just wish bowers and ladd would have been healthy so we could have stopped their asses and won 3 in a row.
If you ain’t cheating you ain’t trying right? Honestly, at this point I do not think anyone in college football has a soul left to sell. Herschel Walker, who grew up next to a friggin railroad track, was driving a brand new Trans Am around Wrightsville his senior year of high school. The legend is that Clemson bought it. Are we to think he came to Georgia instead because he liked the campus? Are we all now aghast at how the sausage is made? The only thing that has changed IMO is that there is no need to hide the money anymore which has knocked the lid off and made teams from shitty, cold mid-west areas like Michigan and Penn State able to compete again. The money has always been there, but not having to hide it changed the dynamics. Anyway, Clemson was doing the same shit as Michigan with the sign stealing but wasn’t as dumb about it. High School teams have done it forever, and have been known to bug the opposing teams locker rooms, monitor their radios, etc. Football has always been a culture of cheating.
According to Herschel, he came to Georgia because “Georgia ended up winning the coin toss.”
What he meant was we tossed more coins his way. LOL
The media covers for people and institutions they like.
conspiracy theory alert.. did anyone else notice that at the Texas game we had “headset” issues and were using walkie-talkies later in the game?
Brooks is a jock sniffin’ moron. Poor man’s Josh Pate & that ain’t saying much. “Solicit photos” & “fire & gemstones”?!? C’mon man! & yes, yankee “elite” corrupt teams like Ohio State, State Penn & Michigan truly suck.
I like Brooks. He’s certainly better than Greg McGaritty.
He’s talking about Brooks Austin.
LMAO. Way to get in there, Anonymous.
If you wear a mask and cape, are you still Anonymous
Noooo ee, he was talking about Brooks Robinson…GO DAWGS!!
Nazis? Pearl Harbor? He’s on a roll….
Rings gather dust….
Non-SEC schools get the benefit of the doubt and positive LA and NYC press coverage.
Do you think Jeremy Schaap would have hidden in the bushes in Ann Arbor to ambush Jim Harbaugh?
I think this and a lot of other things people would’ve formerly gotten people righteously indignant boils down to the “LOL, nothing matters anymore” attitude that’s come with NIL, transfers, etc.
I’d say that attitude has pretty much come to permeate EVERYTHING in this country, not just college sports, though I’d have to go into the Playpen to elaborate on that. Not. Gonna. Do it.
