One of last season’s scapegoats for the offensive woes is having quite the showing up in Jersey.
One has to wonder, as they say. Best of luck to him.

I still can’t stop wondering what Beck’s attitude did to affect the chemistry AND performance of those playing with him. Subconscious dislike, I am convinced made the 2024. Team not perform as well as possible because of simple resentment. Kirby has managed this quite well with his “if you don’t want to be here and love Georgia” move on. Unfortunately, in this case the investment had already been made. Just my opinion and my perception of what will happen more often in college football going forward. I think Kirby is on this mother though, learning from the Beck experiment and leaning on his NFL development skills.
I keep hearing this and when you ask why people think so their answer is, “Lamborghini.” Seems like projecting. His car bothered fans so it had to be why the team didn’t play better. Injuries seems more likely.
I agree. Kirby was complimentary of Carson after the Texas game.
I’m guessing when Beck pulled his name back from the draft, Kirby told him we aren’t going to give you a big NIL deal and you’re going to have to win the job this spring. We’ve seen enough from Stockton to believe he can play winning football for us. I do think Beck burned some bridges within the program for what happened between the SECCG and the Sugar Bowl. He absolutely looked like he was there against his will.
What happened? I either forgot or never knew about it.
He had declared for the draft and seemed completely uninvolved in prep for the Sugar Bowl since he was spending a lot of time visiting doctors. I think someone said you need to be in New Orleans for optics.
Ok yeah I remember him declaring for the draft. I just think there’s a lot we don’t know. I’m not saying Beck is without any fault at all but it also seems like a narrative has been created about him that’s not based on much.
I think the NIL and the car are red herrings.
Yeah, I really don’t think the car mattered for squat. I doubt his love life did either. Beck didn’t have a great season last year but most of his teammates didn’t either. Even if there were “chemistry” issues, a healthier roster and less grueling schedule would have made the team – including Beck – look a lot better.
I hope he has gotten over the drops. I’ll be interested to see what happens when the stadium lights come on.
Is this a major sign that we are lacking in the WR coaching department? Teaching a kid how to properly catch a football seems like it would be an easy ask for a UGA WR coach, and a rather essential job requirement. Did Smith, and other WRs, have the yips at times? Of course they did, but getting them back on track would seem like job #1.
At the end of the day, my guess is that our WRs and QBs were rushed due to a lackluster O-line, in addition to mental errors. I am less than excited to watch a new QB play behind an unproved O-line this year. Add in the fact that Stockton appears to be more lumbering fullback than shifty scatback, and we could have issues.
Terrence Edwards seems to think Coley is a good WR coach. He was on Dawgnation Daily yesterday talking about Moseley (sp?), the new WR commitment from Carrollton. He talked about how some receivers are natural catchers of the ball (Larry Fitzgerald and Randy Moss as two examples) and some are not (Terrell Owens as the example). He said Coley is good at his craft both as a recruiter and a coach. IIRC, no one was complaining about Coley his first time around with the receivers (in particular what he did with Mecole).
Everyone knew Smith was a project as a track guy who played football. Maybe the light has come on.
I heard that, too. Edwards could easily throw Coley under the bus trying to angle for the job, so I’m willing accept the vote of confidence. Still need to see improvement. Last in the nation needs to change.
Totally agree. He’s been back in the job for 1 year. Let’s see what improvement we see.
So glad he can catch the damn ball now that he’s a Jet…. Really…
Yips seldom occur when practicing.
My putting agrees with this statement.
Chipping for me!
pretty much 50 yards and in for me
Pulling for him to excel, but waiting to see what happens on 3rd & 8 during a game. The drops from all our receivers seemed to come at crucial times. That’s when the catches count.
I wish him well. A 5th year sr WR should catch the ball better than he did last year. Coley is in Athens to recruit. Most of the offensive staff needs to go somewhere else, Coley included.
Good for him. He endured a rough year last year, but he never portaled, never wavered in his commitment, never stopped blocking and never stopped working. I hope he goes all the way to Canton. Go Dawgs.
As several have said, let’s see what happens during games. That said, the pressure to perform is greater now and it looks like he is perhaps upping his effort in fixing his one true flaw.
I hope he has a great nfl career. Since the dropsies were not only his problem last year I feel like the problem wasn’t only on him.
