Here’s your Wednesday throwback image:

All alone with the memory of my days in the sun. Actually, I’m much too young, but I know many of you out there do.

The tracks @ Sanford Stadium. My one time up there was Dawgs vs. Gumps in 1976. Picked a damn goodun’, what I can remember of it. Skint up doesn’t quite cover it. 🤕
21-0 One of the most fun days in my entire life.
You can see why it was a popular place for the hoi polloi. Great view for the east end of the stadium and the price was right.
There was no upper deck when my dad took me in the 50s.
I remember RVs parking next to memorial hall on Sanford Friday afternoons. Now RVs have to park in Oglethorpe county thanks to Michael Adams dumb ass.
First game around 1970 at age of 7 or so was bitter cold. Remember the nice southern ladies around me covering me with a blanket. I don’t ever recall being cold in Sanford again. You used to be able to go down “between the hedges “ after the game where my brother and I tossed one of the little plastic C&S Bank footballs the cheerleaders threw into the crowd pre-game along with Pom-poms. I was there for the debut of the east endzone, first night game, addition of the bookstore and upper decks and skyboxes over the years. But my favorite was probably that first one.
View from the tracks. Went there my freshman 1979 and sophomore 1980 years.
1978 on the tracks vs nerdfootball….GO DAWGS!!
