Mark Richt Has Lost Control of Columbus

This isn’t exactly complimentary.

I can’t say he’s wrong, but Day has a hell of a lot more in resources, an easier schedule, and unending money for recruiting and NIL, as well. He’s got Mickey in his back pocket rooting for him, too, thanks to Agent Herbstreit and company. Richt inherited a dumpster fire of a program, was competing in a stouter SEC East back then, and had a meddling shithead for a University President to deal with, to boot.

It isn’t Cowherd’s intention, but this is more of an insult to Richt than it is to Day.

  1. Don’t forget that penny pinching AD that Coach Richt had to deal with too. When your Head Coach is paying bonuses to his staff out of his own pocket, that tells you all you need to know about McGoofy. Thank God and Greyhound he’s gone.

    • Good point. Can’t leave Damon Evans and Greg Mediocrity out of the conversation.

PS, Gotta disagree with JP, I thought Donnan left some damn good football players for CMR.

  2. Day and Richt are not alike in any way. Can you imagine Richt whining after every loss like Day? He took all the crap from fans and press like a real man. While we are at it, can you imagine Richt spending time dying his beard? Day might be getting NIL $$ from Grecian Formula, but the spend is probably a waste and counterproductive for Grecian.

  3. Absolutely horrible comparison. The entire basis for his argument is that both are/were first time head coaches, hence their inability to win the big one.

So, Colin, if that’s true, explain Kirby.

    • I’ve noticed there’s an abundance of really bad takes that are probably done for no other purpose than to incense fan bases. I have a hard time morally doing that…but if I could get paid what they do for these incredibly bad takes, I’d quit my day job.

  4. Colin Cowpatty is one of the dumbest talking heads in sports. That’s saying something.

CMR inherited a mess (with some good players) and knocked the lid off the program. He did everything but win a title and probably would have had at least 1 in a CFP set-up.

Kirby stands by and says, “Are you not entertained?” Yet, Cowpatty’s favorite, Lincoln Riley, hasn’t sniffed a championship especially since he went to the new USuCk (they are taking that from South Carolina).

    • And Day inherited a program on the cusp of a natty that also has more of a recruiting and NIL advantage than any other program in college football, and he STILL can’t win it all. That is the reason everyone says he was born on 3rd base.

        • That in a average year plays one team in conference every year that if you squint is a peer. Richt had Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, LSU all of who either won a Natty immediately prior to him taking over or while he was at Georgia. Now that is also the reason he was fired but trying to say that Day having to beat a Michigan or Penn State is the same is crazy even for that ugly bastard Cowherd.

  5. I can’t watch that dildo, but I’m pissed that anyone would compare Cryin Day to Mark Richt.

  6. Colin Cowherd loves to show how little he knows about CFB. As often stated for good reason Ryan Day started on third base. He’s still there now with the best team money can buy.

    • Colin Cowherd pretty much likes to show how little he knows about anything sports related. Whether it was saying that he wouldn’t touch Derrick Henry prior to the 2016 draft, or that Marvin Bagley should be the #1 pick in the 2018 NBA draft (he’s been the biggest bust of the 2018 class by far), or that before the 2020 season that he would rather have Carson Wentz than Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, or Lamar Jackson as his franchise QB, his takes are just nonsense and foolishness. My favorite, however, and what proved hands down that Cowherd is a complete fraud, is when in the early 2010s he claimed that he never liked Vince Young when coming out of Texas to the NFL (2006 draft) because his throwing motion reminded him of Tim Tebow’s throwing motion. But of course, Tebow was still in high school when Vince Young was playing at Texas…

      • I need to find a job where I can spout bullshit all day long, be wrong 90%+ of the time, and still get paid millions. That asswipe Cowherd isn’t even entertaining. I wonder what kind of incriminating photos he has of Mickey and Goofy to keep his job.

  7. This guy is one of the most uninformed national media members when it comes to CFB. Oh, and if you are going to post stupid shit like this from your car, put on a backwards baseball cap and some Oakleys.

  8. The only nugget of wisdom in all that is that Richt did make a major first-time head coach mistake. Should’ve never named himself OC.

  9. Colin Cowherd is what it would look like if Pat McAfee thought he had any class.
