Work got in the way of an early look post this week so let’s jump right to the preview.
Can this Georgia team get off to a fast start on Homecoming or will the trend continue of farting around to allow an overmatched opponent to stay in the game? My heart hopes the 2nd half of last week jumpstarts the team. My head is concerned that the slow starts are a trend that continues on Saturday.
When Auburn Has the Ball
Peyton Thorne isn’t going to make anyone think of Jalen Milroe, but Thorne did make some plays last year against us especially with his legs. The Tigers feature some good young receivers. The big issue is whether Auburn’s offensive line can get a push against our defensive line. I would like to see us get some pressure and force some turnovers, which have been Auburn’s Achilles heel so far this season. With Smael Mondon out and Mykel Williams questionable, I hope we can still control the line of scrimmage and keep Thorne in the pocket.
When Georgia Has the Ball
I don’t know what to think about the Georgia offense. Is it scheme, game planning, coaching, execution, confidence or a mix of all of the above? Saturday would be a great time to figure that out. The running game has been spotty, and that’s being generous. The passing game has been an enigma of WTF and ripping off some big plays at opportune times. I have a feeling Auburn is going to try to take away the run with the hope that they play action passing game doesn’t materialize. The 2nd half of last year’s game at Auburn was when Kirby finally said, “Let the cat (Carson Beck) play.” Saturday would be a great time for Trevor Etienne and company to do some good in the run game and give 15 a chance to build on last week’s 2nd half.
What Will Happen
Can Auburn get to 30 against this defense? Doubtful unless turnovers and special teams make it possible for them to get short fields. Can Georgia wear down the Auburn lines of scrimmage and grind up the Tigers? I think so. I don’t think the Tigers can score enough to make this a game since they haven’t broken 21 against a Power 4 opponent yet. Dawgs win, but still don’t have a lot of style points.
Final Score: Georgia 34, Auburn 14
Get your heads right, Refugees, as we prepare to celebrate the Senator’s life tomorrow. I hope to meet a lot of you tomorrow.
This game makes me nervous. Hope Alabama doesn’t beat us twice. Freeze will be able to scheme and exploit the undiscipline edges and shorten the game. I hope we figure some things out.
I am not nervous about this game, but I do think it will a lot closer than what we would like. Auburn is not awful. They simply give the ball away like it is candy. I would like to see this group play a complete game, avoid turnovers, clean up penalties, and force a lot of 3 and outs on defense. At the end of the day, I think we will know a lot about the Dawgs. Auburn is not great this year, but they are a longstanding rival who should demand our full attention. If this group comes out sluggish and sloppy, it could make for a long season.
Hugh Slease is gonna throw the whole library at us on offense and follow the Gump’s game plan on defense. We will have to throw the ball to loosen up a stacked box. Then, hopefully we can finally see a game where our running game opens up. Running into a stacked box and only throwing outs behind the line of scrimmage ain’t gonna cut it. We can’t count on them turning the ball over. It’s time to open up the offense from the git go and tackle their asses on defense.
Come out of the tunnel pissed off and play like we’re capable of.
Y’all do the Senator up proud!!

After their collapse last week, and going on the road, we are going to destroy them. We are going to exocise the demons today.
