Your game day post, Tennessee Tech edition

After a satisfying throttling of the Clumpson Tiggles, the Dawgs entertain the Golden Eagles in their home opener of the 2024 season. Interestingly, rain was a concern in last season’s game 2 at Sanford. A lot of rain in the southeast this weekend but, the forecast for 2:00 today is a 15% chance of rain for the duration of the game. Here’s hoping it stays fairly dry for those of you in attendance.

Bet ESPN has the line at 53.5 in favor of the Dawgs. The Over/Under is 62.5… so, are the oddsmakers telling me that TT is capable of putting up 9 points against UGA today? I have my doubts on that.

Not a whole lot to look for today, I expect to see 2nd & 3rd stringers today… do we have a 4th string? TT is mainly here to collect $550,000 for playing the role of the Washington Generals today. Everyone stay healthy!

  1. I’m wearing my Dooley’s Dawg shirt today. In that spirit I say that Tennessee Tech has the finest long snappah in the country.

  2. Iron sharpens iron, but here’s 1 of 2 weeks where iron flattens a cupcake. Looking forward to seeing Rashada and Gunner in action.

  9. I listened to the radio broadcast for the first time in a while. Scott Howard is dreadful. Half the time he is too busy trying to say where a player is from and doesn’t say how many yards the play got or where the ball is spotted. Maybe the location of the new radio booth plays some role in that, but generally he is simply unlistenable.

    • It’s not the booth relocation. He’s always this terrible.

      I think Zeier is good, and often points out things I wouldn’t have necessarily have seen otherwise, but Howard is terrible at the whole Get the Picture aspect that is what radio is all about–he just assumes everyone is watching the same thing he is. And yet, he’s preferable to most ESPN callers, so ….

        this, Scott ain’t the greatest but, he’s my announcer, he’s for my team, I’d rather listen to someone on my side than all those morons ESPN hires

        • I don’t mind Scott. His greatest sin is he’s the guy that replaced Larry Munson. I don’t know that there’s much he could have done. He’s not great and he’s not terrible to me and like you say he’s our announcer. He loves the team and the school and that covers a multitude of sins in my book. He quit all that high pitched screaming he used to do so I can live with the rest of it.

  10. The good was obvious but Etienne looked good and Branson had a lot more burst than last week. I know some of it was the opponent but he hit the hole much faster.

    Way too many stupid penalties today. And we managed to get Delp and Nate Frazier hurt. Delp’s injury was just one of those things and didn’t seem serious. He grabbed his ankle but I saw him walking on the sideline later and if I didn’t know he had hurt his ankle I don’t know that I would have noticed his limp. It was really slight. I hate to even say this but Frazier’s injury looked exactly like Pop’s last year against Missouri. Broke his fall with his arm and immediately started grabbing it. Why in the cornbread hell was he still in the game in the final seconds of the third quarter? Just galactically stupid for him to still be in there. If he’s hurt very bad now you have to have Cash Jones and I know people love him but let’s not pretend he’s Nate Frazier or even close. I hope Frazier ain’t hurt bad.

      • That’s not even close to what I said. But you getting triggered by something lets me know it’s officially football season.

          • lol. Good Lord. Yeah thinking a decision was stupid is the exact same thing as thinking we have a stupid coaching staff in general and across the board. If you think Frazier still being in was smart then good for you. He’s hurt though. I’m not on your grass Old Man River so I’ll leave you to shout at the clouds and the neighbors’ kids.

    • Ehh, that didn’t bother me. They were getting their brain beaten out all game. They wanted something positive, plus the kicker is from Georgia. Our defense should have stopped them.

      To me, nothing at all like Stoops and KY. They are a big boy school and they should be ashamed of sympathy points.

  15. Auburn lost to Cal at home, The Poultry cannon shot Kentucky, Notre Dane lost, Tech lost. It has been a good football day.
