Your game day post, remembering the Senator edition

Today is the 129th renewal of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. In addition, a bunch of our scamps are tailgating together in memoriam of The Senator. Anyone at the tailgate checking in here at GTP Refugees? If so, give us an update… who’s drunk? Who’s passed out? What’s the over/under on empty bourbon bottles? lol Y’all have fun and do it up right in the Senator’s honor, then go whip Auburn’s ass.

I don’t care how many times this video gets posted, still makes me smile.

I tried to prognosticate the Bama game last week. Now you know why I don’t gamble, it’s not my forte’. That said, I don’t see Auburn knocking off the Dawgs after that rollercoaster of a game last weekend. I expect UGA to come out with their heads right from the jump. I expect that. I don’t guarantee anything, your mileage may vary.

Go Dawgs!

    • Cal woulda beat Miami, but ACC refs. Good lord it’s hard not to think they are fixing games for Miami.

  1. Down Island Way, we raise a glass to the Senator and proclaim Blutarsky 24…Start Drinking Heavily as a vehicle for survival with my inner Munson and the demise of the college football landscape painted by Bluto….GO DAWGS!!

  2. I really hate that I can’t make the tailgate today. I’m stuck in a Augusta dealing with hurricane damage. Still no power. I’m going to the hospital to watch the game. You boys take care of business. If the guys that organize this OK it, I think we should make this an annual event. I’m definitely drinking a few in honor of the senator. Go Dawgs.

  3. If you attended the tailgate you may have met my brother Paul who lost his best friend Max, a great Corgi and Damn Good Dog yesterday. He sent a photo of the tailgate and looks like a beautiful day and great mix of Dawg fans.

  4. For the viewers at home, was that a hold on Fairchild?

ESPN/ABC sucks. 2:00 warning. Punt. TV timeout. They are ruining the in-stadium experience. I’m f course, they don’t care.

  5. Just got power back last night here in Evans (Augusta).Hope everyone and their family are doing ok. Hope you guys had a real banger at the Senator’s tailgate. Go Dawgs. Another slow start. Bobo.

  6. Serviceable is the word that comes to mind watching this year’s edition of key positions. Beck has regressed to serviceable but not great due in large part to a serviceable but not great OL and receiver Corp. Same for Etienne who just isn’t elusive. TE’s are just ok. 8 and 86 solid but not great. Defense is good by most standards but not up to their predecessors. Are we playoff good? Yes but not championship caliber yet. Need to get healthy and experienced.

  7. Before everyone gets too distraught, take a look at the Bama vandy game. College football, I love it!

  8. We had our arms around the runner and let him go 30+ yards for a touchdown.

  9. I think that Apollo Creed needs to take Carson to the beach so he can forget about the Lamborghini and the Insta-girlfriend and get the eye of the tiger back.

  10. Whatever “it” is, this team just does not seem to have it. Good but not great on both sides of the ball. Too many losses from last year’s team? Not enough depth? Recruits were overrated by recruiting services? Read too many press clippings?
Many of us on here have bitched and moaned about not being able to set the edge on defense. Apparently, the talking heads see the same thing, because they called out the DAWGS on that very thing today during the broadcast. Talent? Technique? Scheme?

  11. The more I watch this team the more I feel like we are an average to decent team that occasionally shows skills that make us feel like they’re capable of being very good. At this point we seem incapable of sustaining excellent play for more than a half. If we didn’t come out with our hair on fire today we simply don’t have a fast start in our DNA. This offense needs the defense to keep them in the game early. I’ve yet to see us show anything vaguely resembling a killer instinct on either side of the ball. Particularly perplexing is that somewhere along the way we seem to have forgotten how to tackle.

  12. How much drama would this season have, right now, if only 4 teams made the playoff? 12 sucks all the oxygen out.

  13. This team feels like it could turn a corner & become really good, or be a team that’s just not quite as good as the sum of their parts. I really don’t know but I’m interested to see how Kirby attacks it
