UGA kicks off at 1245 today against the University of Massachusetts Minutemen. Word is, they have a really good long snappuh. So, don’t get cocky about today’s game.
Most of the buzz I’ve seen leading up to today’s game has been about, who will we get to see play QB? Will some of the other benchwarmers get into the game? Of course, I think I read a stat this week that 9 freshmen played in last week’s win over the Vols? Seems most everyone gets a chance to get on the field, as long as they are doing their job and showing good things in practice. So, I don’t know how many new faces we’ll see today but, we’re all waiting with bated breath!
This post is your open thread for comments during the UGA/UMass game today.
Go Dawgs!
Weird, just not feeling the buzz around the game like last week. Seriously, just hoping for another game with no turnovers, no injuries and lots of young pups having a taste of game day success. Let’s roll today & get ready for the nerds!
GO DAWGS.
NO INJURIES.
NO PENITALIES THAT MAKE A PLAYER MISS THE NEXT 1/2 OF A GAME.
AND YOUNG STUDS, IF YOU GET IN THE GAME PROVE YOU ARE A GA BULLDAWG.
Well, it looks like we’re gonna need our starters out there on D at least.
This doesn’t happen to any other top tier team. It’s just ridiculous. Can’t get off the damn field on 3rd down. Getting blown up by a 2-8 offensive line. It’s just not okay.
GT is gonna run it down our throat
Maybe, but I think with who the opponent is and it being a night game will get the juices flowing more than playing UMass at 12:45 PM on a Saturday afternoon. I’m frustrated too, but this is what I have come to expect from UGA when they’re 42 1/2 point favorites.
And why are we just now playing our best receivers? Tuggle and White are gonna be epic Dawgs if they stick around.
Our D does not appear to be taking this team seriously.
Looking ugly on defense so far. A QB with wheels continues to be probabmatic for us. I don’t get it.
He’s not even dual threat. He’s a runner. Why aren’t we spying him?
I dunno. I swear Kirby plays base against these lesser opponents sometimes just to reinforce fundamentals.
That first quarter was something.
Can we please shut this shit down? Come on, now.
By ‘we’ I mean ‘the D,’ and by ‘this shit’ I mean ‘UMass’s one-dimensional offense.’
Kirby better chew that ass
UMass got robbed there. Should be first and goal.
Should have been offsetting penalties (Defensive PI and Offensive PI).
All right, D, let’s get a 3 and out now.
A turnover works, too. 😉
That UMass RB is a Heisman candidate, right? He looks like a Heisman candidate.
This team is an enigma. They are hot or cold.
When was the last time the defense came out and played well in the first quarter?
We have to realize that every team Georgia plays would rather beat them than draw their next breath…just get out-hustled and out played in the trenches.
Now we’re having trouble getting pressure on the QB….and TACKLING seems poor again.
This is one time that I really do think (and HOPE) that Kirby and the whole team is looking ahead to playing the nerds..
Tackling has been horrific today.
As usual this year
Well, defense just isn’t that good. I hope Schumann decides to find other opportunities.
Dawgs seem like they’re going to fart around enough that we won’t be able to substitute. Plus we already lost another DL. Dammit.
I fear what happens if we put the 2nd string D in.
I would expect improvement with the 2nd team. It seems to a be a motivation issue. Against both UT’s they looked great. Against everyone else, they look unmotivated and average at best.
Good gravy, Marie. Our DL and LBs drink decaf this morning? They look half-asleep.
I fully expect Kirby’s foot in a lot of defensive player’s asses at the half. Should be epic.
Maybe but that song and dance is getting kind of worn out.
This team takes the first half off almost every game…and that’s on Kirby.
Do it next week and we’ll all be remembering what it’s like to lose to NATS
As long as we have no turnovers next week, I expect that we should beat them. I watched a lot of their Thursday night game and they really don’t have much of an offense. They got 14 of their 30 points off turnovers (1 pick 6 and the other TD on a 3 yard run after an interception).
Best thing about this broadcast will be seeing Hot Rod at halftime.
Did I mention the defense sucks?
Why?
Seems Georgia is always playing to the level of the opposition.
Great pass with the pump fake by Carson though.
I miss Boom
Predicted that first half. We do this a lot with our cupcakes. Lets hope I got the 2nd half prediction right too.
But we did it against Bama, Ole Miss and Tennessee….those aren’t cupcakes.
That’s a bad pattern but it is a pattern by any means.
Quick aside to complain about the broadcast. ESPN has some much money and this is the best they can do? I can hardly understand Hot Rod because of the background noise. They should be able to do better.
The announcers suck too.
Ok. Does anyone have video from Toppers from last night? I think our defense closed it down.
Embarrassing doesn’t describe it. Tech licking their chops right now.
Put in Thorsen to tackle.
I guess it’s gonna be a shootout
That was reminiscent of Bama’s long TD in double coverage.
Thank goodness the Offense is clicking on all cylinders.
Got a lot of people catching the ball today..that’s a great improvement!
D play is atrocious today,
Well, at least we didn’t have to worry about playing backups. Offense getting lots of opportunities.
The Frazier guy is going to be pretty good.
He’ll never be as good as those UMass RBs.
This is a terrible defense by Kirby standards. They look completely clueless during most games. Complete inability to stop the run or long passes. I’d be just fine if Schumann wanted to pursue other lines of employment. The rapid deterioration of the D has occurred remarkably fast under his tutelage. There has to be coaches who can take this talent & produce at least a competent defense in most games. My rant is done.
Schumann got credit by association with Lanning and Boom. Now that he’s on his own, it’s clear he’s in over his head.
It certainly seems to be leaning that direction.
The lack of playing time for our subs this year has been low due to the tough schedule. This is probably gonna hurt us for the next year or two.
This is a team capable of a big win and capable of getting embarrassed by a decent team. The latter may very well happen next week. GT is coming for blood, and we can’t stop a good running game. I said last week that UT should just keep running the ball. They should have listened. At least the offense is playing well and backups are getting some time.
Gunner looked pretty damn good on that drive. Let plays develop and, other than the overthrow to Riddell, was completely in control. Bobo let him go hurry-up.
Do something special today, Kentucky!
Go Dawgs!
For some reason, this team aggravates my ulcer. With the toughest schedule in the NCAA, I don’t know if they are not that good, or it is a result of playing such a relentless gauntlet. I really, really want them to get a big mad on and play well for Tek. The more I hear about Tek’s coach and his mouth, the more I want a drilling for them.
We’ve gone from wanting Bobo fires to now the offense isn’t so bad and we won’t to fire Schuman. Y’all seeing this? One thing that I absolutely do get aggravated by is the almost willful refusal to tackle. I don’t get it. And it’s annoying as hell.
