In the grand scheme of modern day college football, last weekend was just a minor setback, everything is still in front of these Dawgs, keep improving and be hitting on all cylinders by season’s end and let’s see where they go.

Go Dawgs!

  1. Duhn, Duhn, Duhnnmmmn….less of that blasting through the stadium speakers on second down will be more. Give the fans something to cheer about and they will. Goooooo Daaaawg!!!

  2. This is probably a went offense does something in the first half and the bobo apologists go there see, he doesn’t suck.

Then when we play a live team we regress.

  3. I’m probably in the minority, but I enjoy Tessitore. I always feel like he’s one play away from going full Musberger with some random comment.

    • Man, I can’t stand Tessitore. So glad this game is also being broadcast on the SECN with the skycast coverage so I don’t have to listen to either him or Palmer. I wish they did this for all games to be honest. Very few of the callers are worth listening too.

        • Could be worse. We could be the B1G and have Gus Johnson call the games. He’s good for March Madness. In small doses.

  4. Bobo almost always follows up the first td drive with a bust. I was gonna say let’s see if anything has changed. Then we fair caught on the 2 yard line. Not a lot of football IQ and situational awareness needed to not pull that crap.

  5. Seems Bobo got the message. Here’s to hoping it sticks for the whole year.

  6. moving the ball so well…don’t know why we decided to get greedy on that pick.

  7. Team is still sloppy on both sides of the ball. Bama catches that 3rd and 9 ball for a big gain. So the D was beat, on the offense they have missed on some big plays.

I am glad to see Gunner run the ball more. IMO we need Gunner to be a run threat and run more RPOs and empty sets. UGA needs this game to hopefully polish un their game for the remainder of the season.

We are playing with the refs behind UGA thus far.

  8. So you’re telling me last year we actually had better OL health than we would this season. Seriously, is there some sort of ancient curse on this teams good health?

  9. I like the rotation of the RB’s and getting Stockton more involved in the running game. Passing game still looks like a work in progress. TE involvement in the game plan appears to be limited to run support as in pre-Monken days. Bowens has clearly earned RB#1 designation. Good to see us handling business.

  10. I bet we go vanilla in the 2nd half. Gotta save the good stuff for later…lmao

    • I expect a lot of run plays in 2nd half. I also, feel that is the right tact. Defense is still leaky, keep the ball away from their O.

  11. Bowens should be in the game at running back until he is too exhausted to play another down. Then rest him and put him back in. He is clearly our number one back.

    • Agree..he can wear a defense out.
I’ve always thought that when a RB gets hot, you give keep giving him the ball and he’ll get in the “zone” where he’s seeing the field and getting stronger.
But then, Nate has had some good hard runs today too.

      • Yeah, I thought Nate was gonna be our feature back this year. But I think Bowens is the man. I think the “zone” is a very real thing, and for god’s sake, don’t pull the guy and destroy that momentum.

  12. Don’t ever remember having a D so unequipped to get to a QB. Its mind-boggling. There’s some guy goes by elk bst that’s trolling me. He’s about to ask if Bobo recruited the DL. The answer is no. Just want to get that out of the way.

    • The D isn’t getting to the QB, missed an open field tackle on the QB and receivers. Smart was known for his defenders winning thise one on one tackle opportunities.

  13. Agreed with others, glad UGA is winning but this team has a long way to go to be elite.

I’ve defended the D but, there is no excuse for Kentucky’s success in the 2 minute drive. The biggest success was Stoops wasting 20 seconds with terrible clock management. He gave up the ability to run another play maybe 2.

    • Bill became Diddy or Jay-Z before our eyes: young girls and stealing money. 99 problems and winning ain’t one.

  14. If Bill Belichick’s current stint at NC doesn’t prove that all on field results are all ‘bout coachin’ I don’t know what will.

    • What kind of a bullshit extrapolation is this? Yeah because Belichick is grabbing a money bag we should therefore let Bobo, Searles, Schumann, and whomever else do whatever they want and appreciate the results. Hell let’s just pay them more to ensure they don’t leave for greener pastures.

      • Bill somehow forgot everything he ever knew about coaching. I hope Tom calls and thanks him a lot tho.

        • Belicheck has an elite pro coaching career, but he’s never won without Brady. Let’s see if I can do this correctly. If you can’t see that Brady was the most indomitable force in the NFL in my lifetime then I don’t know what to tell you. Bill is a great defensive mind & knew enough to put together coaches that allowed Brady to be Brady but he’s well down the list it seems of great coaches. He also has a huge gap of talent to compete with. Maybe the girlfriend thing is not a great life decision either

  15. I hope the Dawgs are dominant in the second half as they so often are. Don’t let KY score on their first drive.

  16. Kentucky makes a lot of mistakes.
We’ve been fortunate to take advantage of them…
I’m impressed with the lack of penalties…even with subs on the line they are playing with focus.

  17. One of Bobo’s best calls on that reverse pitch to Bell for a TD!
    Showed some imagination there.

  18. Whoever just busted through the line gets the game ball! No matter that he didn’t get to the QB. He made it through!!

  19. Welp…just when we were muttering out loud (or at least under our breath) about Cash Jones….Good catch and run for the TD!! He needed that!

  20. 35-7. And thus, the loss to Bama is gone like the darkness at dawn. Unfortunately so is our d-line rush…

    • There wasn’t as much today!! My ears thank whoever made that decision.

      • There was less canned music than there was before the wristbands. Last game my ears rang afterwards even with ear protection. Today they don’t but the canned music was less than any game so far this season. We could actually hear the Redcoats!!

  21. We have so many skill players and imaginative play calls but Kirby just insists on trying to prove our manhood on 4th and shorts with our depleted OL. Whatever….

  22. Other than this extremely painful 2nd string exercise in perfecting Kirbys bend but dont break philosophy, I’m fairly impressed with the Dawgs performance today. Not sure how that might change if Vandy beats Bama again. Lol. Go Vandy!!!

  23. How vanilla is your D when friggin’ Jesse Palmer calls you out for lack of creativity? He clearly pointed out that we line up our DL exactly the same every 3rd down. No scheming, no trickery. I think we got too complacent out physicalling teams in the past and still don’t realize we need to scheme now.

    • Scary when Jessie the brain Palmer has you figured out. Hopefully it’s just the big lead not wanting to show anything new.

    • Jessie Palmer said it?

He’s like a defensive football savant and stuff.

Don’t trust your own eyes or watch film breakdowns. Listen to the sports media guys. They know.

After all Jesse is brilliant at all things!

      • He ain’t wrong on this one. Remember even a broken clock is right twice a day.

        • I really don’t think how you line up matters much. In fact, if you always look the same presnap its harder to know what we’re up to.

What matters is what happens after the snap.

          • If it doesn’t matter, then why did Kirby do it for years? It changes the blocking assignments, so you are hoping that someone gets confused on who they are supposed to take, and one gets free ESPECICALLY if you are bringing a LB or DB on a blitz (that we apparently have forgotten that you are allowed to do every now and again).

          • But that’s kind of the point, nothing is happening after the snap. I’ve become frustrated watching the complete lack of aggression this season. It’s gone down each of the last three years. Players? Coaches? Youth? Don’t know but it’s not a championship formula.

        • They don’t let us stem anymore, remember?

We have some fans that say we’re too complicated and some that say we’re too vanilla. Shocking. I read a comment a few seconds ago saying that we can’t win the LOS vs UF so we’ll have to manball. *sigh*

I say fans tend to be full of shit and guys with championship trophies are more worthy of my trust than fans who as a rule, don’t know shit.

There is a difference between lining up and letting the opposing coaches get clues as to what you are up to presnap and switching looks right at the snap.

The difference? Not being able to adjust to the change.

Football prep (its called “scouting.” There is also “self-scouting” which is “are we giving clues away by how we line up?”) is spent looking for clues from how people line up in certain situations so that you can predict what’s next and take advantage.

If you can’t tell what’s next because:

          A) they line up exactly the same every time

          OR

          B) they are able to change the picture after the snap (not an option for a front btw)
then any scouter (or self-scouter) is going to conclude that you’re doing it right. Folks who don’t get that should be on or watching The Bachelor and keeping their sewers shut about football strategy and tactics until their cranialrectosis has been adequately addressed.

  24. My deepest, warmest, strawberry shortcake wish is to find the motherfucking university of georgia tight ends and defensive pass rush/pressure on Saturday, October the 11th.

  25. Dawgs surely a work in progress. I don’t see any gimmes on the rest of the schedule.
Today was a good step forward…injuries not considered.
