Time to get our minds right, Refugees. Considering we’ve lost three times since the 2020 Peach Bowl and we’ve become so accustomed to the opposite of Saturday’s result, let’s go down bad memory lane. The worst game in the Kirby era I can recall was 2016 Ole Miss, followed by either the 2017 Auburn game and last weekend, but those have been anomalies. I’ve been seeing a lot on socials about fair weathering and that many of us were raised in the asylum that was 90s Georgia football.
So today’s question is this: what’s the worst Georgia football game you’ve witnessed? I’ll start, with one unfortunately attended:

Begins and ends with the 95 game vs FU! Created a hatred for all things gator that burns just as brightly today as it did 29 years ago.
Any answer for those old enough to witness … 95 Florida. It was embarrassing. It showed how hollowed out the program had become.
Close 2nd – Vandy 94 when the team appeared to lay down.
Worst loss of the Smart era – either game in Oxford. In both cases, the team acted like they didn’t want to be there and played like it.
Yep, ’95 Florida and ’94 Vandy.
Too long of a list quite frankly. Different ones stand out for different reasons. Bad coaching, bad luck, bad football have marked too many to put one out front as turd No. 1.
The worst I ever felt was leaving a game I was at was the 2012 seccg mainly because from where I was sitting I thought Murray just threw it to Conley who proceeded to fall down short of the end zone. It was a few hours later that I found out it was tipped to Conley. That helped a lot.
I also saw the 2008 tech game live. A global catastrophuck. The 2004 Tennessee game was brutal.
The 1994 game at Alabama was the worst coached game I’ve seen. The 2018 game at lsu was slightly better.
I watched live as we ran a fake punt up three at midfield vs. Bama. That was fun….
That 2004 Tennessee game was maddening – one of those perplexing no-shows that happened once or twice a year under Richt.
Fortunately I wasn’t at all of those. Just a few.
I was at that one and it was the most disappointed that I’d ever been at a UGA game as I expected us to play so much better. We had just destroyed LSU and Nick Saban the week before 45-16 and we were thinking that we were National Championship material. THAT was the problem with those Mark Richt teams. You KNEW that there would be at least 1 or 2 face plant games each year where we didn’t show up. That’s exactly how it felt last week too. We looked unmotivated and uninspired after the 1st series of the game.
1974 Georgia Tech………..34-14 loss in 35 degree rain pouring down. Most miserable game ever!
Derek hit it above. There are many and for different reasons. 2015 florida was bad, I think because it was the end for CMR as a Coach, at least for me. What about the 2007 loss to SC? One of the best Georgia teams ever hamstrung by the inevitable Mark, Mike, and Willie bed shit. Hell I still get a tic in my left eye when I think about it.

Silver lining: That game finally motivated the athletic department and boosters to stop the rot.
I am never getting over losing that tipped ball game at the Barn in 2013. The SEC screwed us by making us play at the Barn two years in a row. The Barn QB was a UGA transfer. The DB that fucked up the last past play ended up being a transfer to Barn. We fought like hell to get back in that game and lost it on the dumbest defensive play I have ever seen on a football field. And living in Alabama, it is run on a loop along with the kick 6 game from that same season.
Because the stakes weren’t high, this wasn’t our worst loss but I have never been more infuriated at a Georgia team than the loss to Kentucky in 2009. We squandered two TD leads twice in the second half and gave up 21 straight points to end it. We turned the ball over four times. Joe Cox made a couple of the most ill-advised throws I’ve ever seen and, to paraphrase only very slightly, said after the game, “F’ it. I’d do it again.” The capper was Washaun Ealey fumbling at the UK 1 as we were about to tie the game late in the 4th quarter.
There were a lot of sloppy games under Richt but that was the absolute sloppiest. When they more or less dupicated their craptastic effort against a lousy Colorado team the next year (a game that saw Caleb King fumble late in the game when we were in FG range), I came to the sad realization that we weren’t reaching the promised land under CMR.
Oh, and let’s not forget the gem that was the 1999 game against Auburn. A lot of people have memory holed this one (and pretty much the entire Donnan era) but it was the worst effort I have ever seen from a UGA team. We were down 38-0 in the 3rd quarter, boos were reigning down from the stands long before that, the coaches had no idea what they were doing and the players gave up early. It was an absolutely shameful performance all around.
Ugh. I think Ronney Daniels just scored another touchdown. Dude had 9 catches for 249 yards against us that night.
I was at that game. It was 31-0 at halftime with the crowd booing very loudly at the team as they went into the locker room (which I disagreed with….NEVER boo your own team…curse the coaches, yes, but never boo). I remember that Auburn looked faster than us and more fired up than us. It was a sad display in the time of Jim Donnan’s teams, which were an upgrade from the Ray Goff years.
Boise State. UGA should have never lost to that team. It was the moment my dislike of Bobo moved to something more.
AND we looked ridiculous as well!
Let’s see, I feel like I’ve been there for most of them. I try to pick one good road game a year for a nice long weekend thinking it’s in the bag for us. How it’s been:

Vandy 06- Slop fest
Vandy 94- The stands were clear by the 3rd quarter and it was a close game
LSU 19 SECC- When we missed the long pass early in the game it was inevitable
Florida 95- Sitting there as a 17 year old it was hard to believe that we would ever beat Florida again
