  3. My year 2000 brain cannot comprehend the Kirby Era. The only blemish, can’t beat bama, is God punishing Kirby for coaching there.

    • No, when the United States bailed out the Yazoo Fraud God made a deal with Americans wanting to settle west of Georgia. God told those settlers that he had to make one of those States perpetually the shittiest State in the Union. The Montgomery crowd asked, “If we volunteer to accept being the shittiest state will you give us great football? ” God said, “I’ll make that deal.” Alabamians rejoiced, “RTR!!!”
      That is why we struggle with Alabama.

  6. Great post, great perspective to see the run we’ve been on. I guess you’d have to go back to ’78 “Wonder-dawgs” or ’80 champs to find a UGA club that’s won so many one-score type games. It’s been a wild ride this year, but I’ll take that over a club like the hard-luck ’92 Dawgs that lost twice by a total of 5 pts.

    • Dude, no one is saying everything is fine. Feel free to complain if that’s what you would like to do, but there isn’t going to be any change made midseason.

      There is a reason Vegas has had all of these games as single digit spreads. There were 18 teams with a blue chip ratio greater than 50%. We’re playing 5 of them in the regular season (including Florida). Whoever gets the Florida (and LSU) job is not walking into a roster rebuild.

      I’m enjoying the ride (my heart may not be).

        • Which may be the place where competition with Kirby is at its most challenging.

          It appears to me that most programs are catering to these kids rather than being both selective and demanding.

          If you can recruit talented kids who have character and who are challenged rather than babied, you’re going to have success over the spoiled.

      • I literally read nearly every week we win that Bobo is a great OC. That only non ball knowers feel otherwise.

          Btw, neither the whiners nor the non-whiners know much. The non-whiners just acknowledge that truth and act accordingly.

          There are zero objective facts to support the idea that bobo is holding this team back. In fact, I’d say at this point he’s carrying this team on his back.

          Not that coaching is the liability on the other side, but depth and talent and experience is causing some struggles over there.

          I see one really, really good ball player over there:

          CJ Allen.

          While not a perfect group by any means, on offense we have a tough sob at qb, a nice stable of backs a big ass OL, some very good te’s and a lightning quick slot guy.

      • Two deep safeties is taking candy from a baby for Alabama. They may force you to play that way between the 20’s because of their personnel but it won’t be kryptonite.

        There is no kryptonite defense for every team’s personnel. The question is:

        What is your response to what they are doing?

        If you can’t effectively counter their move, you will struggle.

        Ultimately, football is about dudes. Its about match ups. If you don’t have dudes, if you can’t create mismatches, it will matter.

        For example, if I had 4 Deion Sanders, I can play man vs bama and send 6 on run/pass blitzes all night. They ain’t doing nothing…unless they can run the ball. Then everything would change.

        We just don’t have dudes on the outside and it shows.

        So we’re going to have to rtdb and stop the run and win games like we keep winning them.

        If you’re looking for lots of explosives out of this group, you probably ain’t going to get them.

        Only two ways it will happen:

        Safeties draw up to help in run support because we’re gashing folks OR someone develops into that guy on the outside.

        Both would be nice.

    • I realize you don’t see it much in today’s polarized climate, but it’s actually possible to have a balanced perspective that appreciates nuance. We can, for example, acknowledge both that we are in a historic period of success while also understanding that this team has issues to work on. We can celebrate a win and appreciate the team for its strong points, while at the same time understanding that the team has flaws. I know it’s not black-white thinking, but it’s possible. Any argument there?

    • Do people think that rip up the gut and the two sweeps to end the game just came out of nowhere? I mean I was as frustrated as anyone by all the east-west running and screens for 50 minutes, but if they didn’t set up the second and third TDs and the end of the game, I’m not sure what did….

      • The truth of the matter is that without a consistent deep threat, things are going to be a bit of an ugly grind on offense. Its pretty unavoidable if you can’t force teams to worry about getting beat deep, they’re going to pin their ears back and make things hard.

        I keep hoping 5 will be that guy, but its not happened yet.

        • There is the existence of a deep threat. Connie, Noah, Dillon, Branch, even Luckie a la Bowers.

          OL can contain. Gunner could use more air under his deep ball but his accuracy is pretty close.

          A perfect example of why Bobo is not elite: there’s no reason we shouldn’t take more deep shots, except for the fact his playcalling sequencing seems perpetually out of sync from putting us in position to get the favorable match-ups on favorable down/distances to take these downfield shots as well-calculated risks.

          • You’re seeing separation that I ain’t seeing. Just because you have players doesn’t mean that they’re breaking free with their feet.

            Only one of those guys you list (potentially) has the speed to leave folks behind.

            Seems to me that what is getting folks open, when they do, is p/a and double moves. A lot of times on straight drop backs everyone is well covered.

            Straight line speed scaring the fuck out of dbs? I ain’t seeing it.

            Nor do we have a Pickens who creates his own space with size and catch radius.

            If you think any of these guys are going as high as Ladd or Bowers you’re wrong.

            The freshman TE, maybe. But he’s a baby right now.

            Branch is a day two kid and will only go that high because of the special teams aspect. The rest are day three at best.

            2 deep safety zones with a physical front is kryptonite to us right now. What we need is a guy who beats the corner and then beats the safety trying to help over the top.

            Until then, we’re going to look constipated at times on offense vs talented defensive teams.

    • Everyone (nearly everyone anyway) here knows that Kirby is FAR better positioned/qualified to deal with the various issues than any of the rest of us are.

      Appreciation. Humility. Circumspection.

        You do realize that Napier, Franklin, Kelly, Pry, Pittman, hell Geoff Collins, Jeremy Pruitt, Bryan Harsin, ANY current or former head coach knows more about football strategy than any of us.

        We’re all entitled to our own opinions and free to share them. Those that camp out on this board and police everyone else like middle school hall monitors are the obnoxious jerks that no one likes.

        Stop talking about other posters. Talk about the game.

        The game was pathetic. We won. Great. I’m watching to witness solid play, a good gameplan, high/level execution, passion, heart, love in striving, and joy in success.

        I don’t see that from these teams outside a few key plays a game when this team has their back against a wall that they have put their own selves in.

        And I definitely don’t see those quality traits and emotions from the coaching staff. I see entitlement and defensiveness. THAT is the thing that’s persistently disappointing.

        And all you’re doing is reinforcing that.

        • Its hilarious to me that people defend criticizing shit they readily admit they really know nothing about and then call the humble among us arrogant jerks while they’re doing it.

          • I read the rest. In your blinded idiocy, you failed to realize a few things:

            1) Your reading comprehension is terrible and you’re a worse listener. Nowhere in my post did I say Kirby was a bad coach or that UGA can do better, which are common straw men you like to throw out and argue against.

            2) I’m not defending anyone. I’m calling you a childish hall monitor and telling you to stop acting like the teacher’s pet bossing around everyone else on the blog.

            3) The only person whining is you. Crying daily about people that share their own valid opinions about what they see, being apparently different than your official party message. Even when there are no critics around.

            So you’re just a massive hypocrite with apparently no other hobbies.

            Here is what I am saying, so read it slowly:

            1) Kirby’s role as the HC and his $13mm salary, make him NOT above reproach for questioning and criticism. That’s a pretty basic take, unless you’re unable to process things like freedom of speech, indepen-dence of the press, and comprehend not everyone is a sunshine pumper lemming like you. Advanced stuff I know.

            2) His own entitlement to being above being questioned is not only crass and disappointing, it’s also culturally toxic that filters down to coaches and players. It’s indicative of lacking in accountability. Even the best are able to look in the mirror and re-evaluate. The exceptional can do so on tight turnarounds. The lucky or inordinately well-endowed take much, much longer. I’m pretty comfortable, seeing now what I have for a decade-plus, that Kirby is in the latter camp. Evidence: his delayed transition from a run-heavy identity until after 2018. Bringing and retaining guys like Bobo and Searles on staff, which I think are unimaginative tired re-treads with nothing new to offer and the same sense of entitlement. His curt rudeness to reports that ask anything controversial, or even seek to get some perfunctory color insight from the HC to aid their sports reporting efforts. Kirby’s insistence of keeping recruiting-first coaches on staff in a world where elite scheming is much more important than procuring HS talent that inevitably gets bid anyway, and can depart at any time.

            3) What I am saying, as far as action is concerned, with emphasis, is jus tooted to telling you to please SHUT THE FUCK UP and let some other voices be heard around here, and let other voices be shared in peace.

        • It’s easy to tell who’s Bobos sponsors are at the Screen Pass Anonymous meetings.

    • Hmmm. I love KIrby and what he has done for this team, UGA, and the fans. BUT, this is at least the third time this season that he has looked over at Woodring, and said “Yeah, you could kick this chip shot, but I’d rather man ball this (4th and 4 to go?) into a disaster. We can overcome it if it goes sideways”. That’s why I think he is effing with us a little bit. But who knows? Maybe it pays off so that at the end of the season we will be able to man ball it when it really counts or he will know we can’t and take the dang points.

  8. Florida has only one player who was on the roster when Florida last beat UGA (Khalil Jackson, who is a Covid 6th year senior.) He redshirted in 2020 so he has never played in a win in TWLOCP.
    Tech, Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson have zero players who ever played on a Tech, Auburn, Tennessee, or Clemson that celebrated a win over Georgia. Those teams out to get Khalil Jackson to talk to their teams totell them how it feels to be in winning locker room against UGA! (I realize that those teams may have an Alabama or Ole Miss or ND transfer on their rosters. That is why I worded it as I did.)

      • I had a really perverse thought this morning that we don’t want to happen, but picture this- Kirby and Kiffin trade places for a few years and see what happens. Winner gets the others buyout.

    My senior year in Athens was Ray Goff’s first as head coach. Experienced that trainwreck, Spurrier, Fat Phil, Even Bobby Ross. Clearly these are glorious days to be a Georgia Bulldog.

    No, we aren’t the 72 Dolphins or even the ’21 and ’22 Dawgs. Who the freak cares? We are winning and vanquishing are rivals like no other time in the history of UGA football. Soak it in. Enjoy it. Most of all appreciate it.
