As if the Suckeyes needed another drop of money in their program, they’ve signed a corporate sponsorship with a bank.
Meanwhile, the BigXII is getting a million dollars per program for signing with a teenager’s energy drink. Coach Amazon Prime is exactly where he belongs, no?

Delta or Coca-Cola, you’re our only hope.
Well, it sure was fun while it lasted.
Given Ohio State plays most of their games on Fox at noon, that doesn’t seem like a good investment. I may cut up my Chase card as a result and tell them and Disney why.
Will we sell a patch or not? I hope not, but who am I kidding?
I guess Noon Kickoffs are a thing, the excuse for us playing so many is for the World Wide Leader to offer a counter to the Big Noon game.
It’s the only window Fox has any control over, so they have to put their biggest game there. They lose to the SEC at 3:30 and in prime time.
They set the market.
Paging Coca Cola..
Someone, somewhere, in a dark and cold banking basement, a Chase bean counter found some clear avenue for ROI for x amount of years with the suckeyes or, or does a fucknut grads son sit on a chase board that advanced this type of jersey patch as a “hey, it’s only 17 millllion dollars”…
Chase card gotta go. Not going to aids and abet no bucknuts! FTMF’s!!!
We will eventually sell a patch or two! My question for a lot of national business brands is whether their sponsorships highlighted on uniforms and staring the consuming college football fan in the face for 4 hours every Saturday will balkanize the fan bases. I don’t bank with Chase and won’t going forward. I don’t drink Titos. Hunker vodka only.
Screw this.
I’s pretty sad when the UFC won’t allow Condom Depot placement/banners for cage fighters but CFB is staring down the barrel of putting dudes in Nascar jumpsuits.
It’s getting to the point where we look like Tech regarding not having donors that care compared to our peer adversaries. I’ve cut back drainkin’ so bottles of Hunker Down bourbon ain’t gonna help fill the coffers. Dang the unintended conserquences of sobriety…
I guess it’s ok as long as they’re no concrete company on the jersey.
Maximizing revenue…to what end? Belief is $$$ = Winning, ergo Winning = $$$$ But so what? Does the traditional alumni base really care anymore? What does a championship do for bragging rights when it’s a semi-pro team and not your “college”? Do I want to see UGA win? Yes, of course. But where does the money grab eventually end? How long does one bask in the glory of a national championship given the speed of news / current event cycles today? As noted so eloquently above…screw this.
Like many of you, I don’t see how a patch on a jersey – even on all 20 (? I’m not sure, I’ve never counted them all) schools in the conference is worth that kind of $$$. Even if there is a little TV blurb [‘Today’s starting lineup brought to you by JPMorgan Chase is…”] I still can’t see it.
Considering the Athens-Clarke County PD’s attention to the football team, I think we should go with a patch from a local bail bonding company. Bond, James Bond. https://bondjamesbondinc.com/locations/athens-ga-bail-bonds/
