We’re apparently bad enough to lose to Auburn, yet good enough to make it to the National Championship.
If ever there was a year to shake the Alabama curse, this one’s it. I’m sure we wouldn’t mind playing Texas twice…it worked out in 2024, after all, you know, when Arch Manning wasn’t choice number one over an injured Quinn Ewers.
I’m happy UGA will prevail over PSU. Everything else will take care of its self.
I just want to see the SEC pit the 4th & 5th best teams in the SECCG as a play in game for the playoffs and let the Disney lovin’ masses waller in their quest for mediocrity…
How nice would it be to get paid the big bucks to make asinine predictions based on nothing other than your feelings and have absolutely zero accountability for all of the stupid and contradictory shit you say.
Hey, I do this for free. (;
You need a better agent 😉
I don’t get the Texas love. Manning has played only a little more than Stockton, but, but his last name!
Funny thing is he’s Cooper’s boy. I mean, I have a few nephews too, but they’re shitheads more often than not…
Losing one of the big home games and one of the big road games, both before Halloween, (maybe both in September) and then rallying into the playoffs isn’t THAT insane.
I agree that its not likely but not crazy. Personally, I think we’re either good and drop 1 regular season game (Texas?) or we’re mediocre and drop 4-5. Which is even less sensible I suppose. Perhaps that’s why I am sympathetic?
I just don’t have a feel for what we have. At all. I’m in full panicked Munson mode.
No one has a sense of the team other than the coaches and even then, they won’t truly know until the stadium lights come on Aug 30. I’m generally a Munson as well, but given the talent we still have on the roster and that most of our hard games are at home, I still think 10-2 is the floor until Kirby is proven otherwise.
Some folks will recall that I picked the first natty 11 months in advance, so I’m not always panicked or without a take (often a very very wrong take tho always a confident one), but this one has me puzzled. Can’t remember the last time we had exactly zero proven big time offensive players who you know you can generate yards/points with.
Maybe 1979? The year after McClendon and before Herschel. Maybe 1983? Anyway its been a LONG time.
Of course we didn’t know what we had in 1980 until we saw it, but there was certainly a “buzz.”
Did we really have that entering 2021? No one knew 19 would be the next coming of a Dawg superhero (there were whispers that he was going to be good eventually). There was a lot of cautious optimism about JT Daniels. George Pickens had torn his ACL by that time, so people thought he wouldn’t be available until late in the season at best (which is what happened).
What we did know is that we had a defense that was likely going to be difficult to move the ball against … I would like to see that again.
We will fill Hard Rock stadium. What’s he talking about?
I see 3-4 losses between Tenn, bama, awburn, gayterds, ole miss and the nerds. If an SEC team wins the national championship that champion will have to beat at least one other SEC team twice. Most likely multiple SEC teams.
Would you be saying the same thing if Todd Monken was the OC?
Wyatt “Kirby” Earp is about to bring hell down on all those poor souls… please, outside rice dick analysts, continue your assault on the kingdom of kirby.
Ok Andy…same guy (s)-Ari and Andy)), that postulated our demise this season…it is the silly season…
I think season comes down to Alabama. We beat them, and the team goes on a roll. Lose to them and we might have a rough year.
Arch Manning, much like Al Bundy, peaked in High School…
He still wakes up in a puddle thinking about the Dawgs in Austin…
I think the team/coach that has more first round draft picks than losses over the past several year, and still has one of the most talented teams in CFB, gets the benefit of the doubt until shown otherwise. Kirby is licking his chops with all this doom and gloom.
Kirby has many top 5 recruiting classes stacked in with a good haul from the transfer portal. Many of these 5 stars had to wait until another NFL draft to show their stuff. We have studs at running back, and defense will need to be better this year, but there is no way we get 4 losses. Kirby is on the mutha.
I can see us playing Texas 3 times this year.
1) Does Tennessee have any good players left? Their QB, top RB, and top 3 WRs are all gone plus 4 of 5 OL starters are gone and they struck out in the portal. Kirby has been able to shut down Bobby’s offense when they had talent in those positions. They also must replace James Pearce. I just don’t see it. I think they’ll be a 4 loss team.
2) If Alabama is good enough to win in Athens, I think they go undefeated through the regular season, and I don’t see Texas beating them in the SECCG. I just wonder if the mental fortitude is there. They open with FSU, and they play Wisconsin two weeks before coming to Athens. They finish in Jordan-Hare. They were more talented last year and lost to Vandy and Oklahoma. The QB situation isn’t settled coming out of spring, either, so Ty didn’t do enough to secure the job over guys that haven’t played a snap. That’s less than ideal.
3) Texas plays Ohio State, Florida, and Georgia on the road. Do they win two out of those three? Their three SEC road games last season were a 27-24 win at Vandy, a 20-10 win at Arky, and a 17-7 win at A&M. I think 10-2 is their regular season ceiling.
4) Penn State’s schedule is soft. For all the bluster about the B1G and 9 conference games, they fill out their schedule by playing Nevada (#124), FIU (#129), and Villanova (FCS) in weeks 1-3. Their real schedule doesn’t start until they host Oregon in week 5. If they win that, they should be 7-0 headed to Ohio State in week 10. Indiana in week 11 at home is the only other team they play in the top 25 of SP+ (post-spring edition). For comparison, Georgia plays 5 in the top 14, and 6 in the top 25. Penn State plays 3 in the top 25.
5) Not to be outdone, Oregon plays the softest schedule of any contender. They only face 1 in the top 25. Just 1. Out of 12 games. And that is in Happy Valley. They play the same number as Boise State despite playing a 9-game Power 2 conference schedule. I don’t know how Oregon ends up an 8 seed, even if losing to Penn State twice is assumed.
