Morning, scamps. I’m in the process of experimenting and examining options to fix the gremlins that have been haunting us here for a couple of months, so I’m asking a favor. One thought is that the WordPress platform is fine, but something we’ve inadvertently done here has compromised the viewing and commenting settings, so I wanted to see if y’all would test another WordPress site, here:
Pardon the mess there, it’s an old WordPress site I used for playing around, so ignore the Latin and any other BS you may find there. Instead, test it out and see if you can easily comment/read/whatever, and leave your thoughts in the comments there, if you don’t mind.
We are likewise frustrated, and want to get back to the optimal reading, writing, and commenting experience, so your feedback is appreciated. And, no, I’m not trying to filter traffic to my personal site or for personal gain, it’s the free version with no capital gains coming from it. None of the contributors here are making money from this, it’s an endeavor of the heart, and we want to enjoy our community without the gremlins moving forward.
Thanks in advance, JP.
Looks pretty good to me.
New page works great..
It wouldn’t let me leave a comment until I logged in. Once logged in it wouldn’t accept the comment until I subscribed. Once I did it took the comment. That may be the way you have things set up,
I changed the settings just now…like I said, I never did much there so had no idea. Trying to monkey with settings now to see if that has any impact and can be applied here.
comments here work on chrome desktop as well. No subscription or anything
The other blog worked for me. I have to use Jetpack to comment here.
I like the old/test site better because I can now post gif files and image files in the comments. I could not get that to work on this version. Also, since I have an account I can see when other commenters reply to my comments via the notifications or if I have comment likes. I am using Chrome browser.
Have you tried setting this site back to one of the default/delivered wordpress themes to see if it’s an issue with the theme being used here?
Trust when I say we’ve explored that option, and the WordPress Help isn’t on a Chick-Fil-A level of customer service. The only other option here was the nuclear one – reset and lose all content and start from scratch. We’re continuing to explore, though. Thanks for participating and for your feedback!
I was able to comment without logging in as it already had me logged in. No problem.
Worked like a charm. I was logged in by default and it took my comment straight away. Here, I can comment, but it just shows “Submitting” (or something like that) until I manually refresh the page.
New page looks and works great.
