The first CFP results came out, and no real surprise, they’re favoring a team that’s 1-1 versus top ranked opposition over another team that is 1-1. Why Ohio State? Maybe it’s their strength of schedule…oh wait.

Well, they must’ve beaten a team with a harder sched…ah, to hell with it. Call it what it is, optics bias about ugly wins never mind Ohio State narrowly escaped with a win against Nebraska, which I guess is better than narrowly beating Kentucky. Right?

Anyways, a 5 seed means a date against a physical Boise State team followed by a matchup against our kryptonite, a good mobile quarterback in Cam Ward. No thank you.
One thing to consider though is that, technically Ohio State is the 5 seed, even though they are ranked 2. The top four are top ranked conference champs, so Georgia would draw the winner of Penn State and Notre Dame.

Talk about bad timing, though. Ole Miss isn’t even on this screen…great locker room materials for the Laner ahead of this weekend’s game.
The mission is clear. Just win, baby. Don’t matter if it’s ugly with multiple interceptions, just win.
The Dawgs may not win out in the regular season, but I like our chances. One thing is for damn sure no matter what they may say, there ain’t a team in the country that would feel good about facing the Dawgs in the playoffs. Win big, win ugly, I don’t give a shit… just win.

Am I correct that these seedings/rankings are even more meaningless because we don’t know who will win their conference championship games?
To an extent, yes. They give some perspective of who is in and out, and which GOF team may be in and who is in the verge of being out/in. But, the top 4 is meaningless if two of those teams are in the same conference, as in the case of OSU/Oregon. If Oregon loses a close one to tOSU, and only falls to #2 as a result, Oregon becomes the 5th seed regardless if they are ranked in the final set as a top 4 team. In other words, conference championship games actually matter…but on the flip side, if Miami is the highest ranked ACC team and loses to SMU, there’s always a possibility Miami still gets a top 4 bye depending on where the rest of the ACC and their championship opponent falls in the rankings. It’s convoluted and weird.
Correct, Hog. This really doesn’t mean much, especially considering all the games still to be played.
We’re in if we split Tennessee/Ole Miss. Beyond that, there’s still lots to be decided WRT who plays who in the tournament.
Agreed. I couldn’t care any less about these rankings until it all plays out.
The only reason I watched it was because it was that or election crap. The DAWG for Tuesday night MACtion.
