We lost our focus in the 2nd half
There’s almost always an ebb and flow in a game. I can’t complain about a game where we beat the spread TWICE. Everyone says the OU D is stout. If so, that makes our offense look pretty dang good.
If Gunner has to win us a game from the pocket, we may be in trouble. Hopefully, the defense and our other means of moving the ball, we’ll remain sufficient to get comfortable Ws.

Good
1) We contained the QB run, which scared me before.
2) We tackled well even in garbage time.
3) We pushed the ball down the field with some success.
Bad
1) The turnovers broke momentum.
2) Coverage on the tight end was not consistent.
3) Offensive line inconsistency
That’s the best defense we’re going to face in the regular season. If every drive ends in a kick, we win 41-7.
There’s room for improvement for sure. Did Gunner throw to the TE’s at all today?
But the defense was popping. That looked like a Kirby Smart defense for real.
He threw a wheel route to Reddell that was incomplete. Luckie had at least 1 catch and a target. Williams had a short catch.
Seems we did a ton of max protect.
I expect that was because of the OK defense, and we still beat them handily. I like it.
A lot to work on but look, we win 41-13 in what was supposed to be our sternest home test of the year. We probably won’t see our first serious challenge until Oct. 10th in west Birmingham.

The pick on the first drive killed momentum. We tried to hit some downfield throws against man to man.
OU played better defense in the 2nd half, but we still scored 13 more.

And on the other hand, every win by Bama, Texas or tOSU further justifies why they are worthy to wear the crown. Texas looked meh against the Vols. The Bucknuts beat yet another lifeless B1G team. And Bama crushed the hapless Cocks. Now Dinich and the rest of the media are slobbering over them. Meanwhile, they’re reluctantly giving us credit while regularly reminding the audience that we really ain’t played nobody yet.

John Mateer is terrible.
Our pass rush still concerns me. Although, our game plan may have been to make Mateer beat us with his arm and not let him run.
3 sacks, 5 TFLs. Mateer had someone in his face most of the afternoon.
Both of you are correct. Mateer is a not a serviceable SEC QB. Yes he was facing heavy pressure almost constantly.
Just holding onto the football was too difficult for him. One of his drops actually bounced right back to him like a basketball.
I almost felt bad for the OU fans who made the trip.
It was the perfect Kirby Smart game. Play good enough the outcome is never in doubt. Then mess up just enough to give Kirby something to point out to everyone. A fumble, interception and busted assignments will be his message. Not that they double covered the spread.
I just feel like Mateer made the pass rush seem better than it was. He holds the ball so long. Austin Simmons and Chambliss worry me. They see the field and get the ball out much better.
Some of it was it appeared there was no one to throw to. I thought the secondary generally played well.
If our pass rush concerns you then you clearly did not watch the skycast version of the game. You ought to do that. You will no longer be concerned if you are honest with yourself about what you see.
Was our rushing attack constipated today? You bet. We didn’t abandon the run… we just couldn’t run. OU was giving up 2.85 yards a rush coming into Athens… good for 24th in the country. Also, I like Bowens and Peanut but there is a definite drop in how they follow the Offensive line. Both backs pressed and were too aggressive in trying to fit a run inside and when they did find a seam, they went down too easy IMO. It will come with experience — sooner would be better though.
I like Peanut. I know he won’t bull his way through traffic, but if he can get into the secondary not many folks can catch him. I wonder if he could catch a swing pass.
We beat the hell out of a blue blood today in Athens like it was a day at the office. I like this team.
Watching aTm and LSU. I have to believe Elko’s pants feel like they’re on fire. I know it’s at LSU, at night, etc., but you should be able to make a game of it.

To me it was a great win. As fans people tend to think once is a trend. It’s not. Gunner is fine other than he got knocked goofy pretty early innthe game.
Florida doesnt scare me. Baugh is not going to have fun against this defense.
I had a chuckle when they showed the UF fans who painted their chests with B-A-U-G-H. The first two had sweated it off, so it was just a coupld of shirtless bro’s standing next to U-G-H.
