I can’t throw too much shade, to be honest. I kind of feel for him and understand that he wants to die on the hill that the sport is changing for the worst, so he’s sticking to his guns. Good on him and I can’t disagree with him too much. It’s just not a sustainable business model in 2024.

Well, he’s not sticking by his promise to quit if players start getting paid. But I’m guessing he only has a few more years left anyway. 4-4 in the ACC doesn’t go far at Clemson.
Usually, stubbornness resulting in the downfall in a head coach is due to tying a bad assistant around his neck. By refusing to fire them, the howls of the fanbase and pressure from the donors grows until the HC cuts that anchor to survive a couple more years.
Dabo is an interesting case study; a rare coach who refuses to change with the times because of his principles. I wonder if the IPTAY crowd has the stomach to see this continue much longer. I can’t wait for Labor Day weekend to see him test his “high school transfers” against the modernized, fully armed, and operational Kirby Death Star.
