RBUsual – For Georgia’s Running Back Room, It’s Business as Usual

We’re down two running backs, and Branson was struggling. Seemed as though Branson was step who getting to the gaps or he was being asked to try to finesse on swing passes where he’s better running through guys.

Enter Nate Frazier:

Frazier had the right pep in his step and he hit the holes quickly before the disappeared in a wash of orange and red. Also, the offensive line was rotating in and out a lot so maybe the right combination came around in the 2nd half.

Also, loved the tribute he gave on his first career TD:

He also did the Sony jazz hands. Nice.

Then, enter Cash Jones. The guy who looks more like Napoleon Dynamite’s brother, Kipp, than a D-1 running back came through clutch. I don’t really recall many more carries by Branson late in the game, but clearly another fresh back moving at a high gear was needed, and Cash delivered:

Seriously, that was a stud run and the stiff arm, was, how should I say:

A work of art.

Another day, another set of Georgia running backs making the highlight reels. RBU is in Athens.

  1. That Cash stiff arm………… *chefs kiss*

We are living in amazing times, my friends. Old farts like me (or older, I’m 52)……. god we suffered for so long.

Every single season is so goddamn glorious now. It is pure bliss.

    • I can agree with that, Muck. I’m 55, and this run has been amazing to see. Never thought I’d see something like this. I was resigned that the early 80s might have been the pinnacle during my lifetime.

      • All you young guys need to quitcherbitchin’!! Hell, I’m 68! You really want something to bitch about?!

  2. That was a 4 star cornerback getting embarrassed by a walk on. My favorite play of the game.

  3. They showed Etienne on the sideline shortly after one of Frazier’s runs and I said to my son that kid is really seeing the ramifications of his poor decision. He may still be RB1 but, his decision resulted in 3 getting a serious chance to show what he had.

  4. Frazier appears to be some hybrid of Sony and Knowshon, with a sprinkle of Gurley. Of course, it’s way early, but he’s off to a great start.

    • At first glance he reminded me of Sony and Swift. But Knowshon is a nice observation as well. All DGD’s and NFL backs!

    • Completely agree. I’ve seen him compared to Swift and to me they are very different. A combo of Sony’s speed and quickness and Knowshon’s crazy ability to change directions is what I see.

  5. Cash stiff arms DB to get to the corner, tightrope the sideline for five yards and dives for the nylon. That was an amazing play that should get more attention.

    • Well, there’s a decent chance that there is some nylon in that pylon. 😉

  6. We now have Napoleon Dynamite at QB and his brother at RB.

But seriously folks, this should be another dagger in the heart of the “Kirby can’t coach” BS that other teams like to spread. It seems like every year Kirby has one or two walk on players or very lightly recruited players that turn into MAJOR contributors. That doesn’t happen by accident. It shows they can evaluate raw talent AND can maximize it. Stetson, Ladd, Cash, Jordan, Eric all were no star or 3 star who became (or are becoming) UGA legends.

      • I may be one of the few people who have never seen Napoleon Dynamite, so I’m going by what others have reported. As for Tom Petty, I can see that. Speaking of Tom Petty, I saw where the TURDs are going to stop playing “I won’t back down”. They have embraced their new reality and will start playing “Hello darkness my old friend”. Another good one (since they live in the past) would be “Glory Days” since just like in the song, they sit around the bar, half in the bag, reminiscing about days LONG gone by…..never to return.

        • Sit ur ass down and watch that movie tonight. Epic dance scene. And vote for Pedro!

  7. Humor is subjective. Napoleon Dynamite bored the hell out of me. But I laugh at things other people don’t find funny a lot of the time. Like when that magician got swatted by that tiger years ago. What the hell was he doing messing with tigers. lol.
