I’m away from the house so I’ll have to update the Mumme Poll tomorrow. For your griping pleasure though, here’s Georgia’s latest CFP ranking:

Behind Miami and behind Notre Dame, owners of unranked losses both. Notre Dame possesses likely the ugliest loss, but, of course, not as ugly as a loss to the current #14 team in the latest CFP poll.
Barring a loss to Vanderbilt, Tennessee looks to be the benefactor of “better to not play in the SECCG” after losing to an unranked team themselves.

Resulting in what currently looks like this:

I’m sure the Bobby Hillbillies would welcome a return to Sanford. Let’s hear their excuses if we whipped their asses a second time.
So we either get a bye or hit the road to PSU or OSU or ND. WE NEED TO WIN THE NEXT 2.
Exactly. These are two big, big games. I’m sure Kirby is on the mother.
I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer but if we don’t win in ATL next week, don’t we host UT?
No, not necessarily.
With this group of selectors lead by their Michigan alum chairman. I expect the few SEC selections to be grouped together in one side of the bracket. Avoiding any potential of another all SEC final. Expect the b10/20 to be evenly spaced maximizing the opportunity of the first ever all b10 or whatever it’s called championship game final.
So if I understand how this works, we could lose to Tech (I am just spinning) but win the SECCG and get a bye as a top seed with three losses. This is more effed as a plan than I originally thought and I didn’t think that was possible.
Yes, that’s exactly what could happen.
The CFP committee is more screwed up than my finances in college.
So what if A&M wins the SEC? We’d have 3 losses but only because we played an extra game. But both of those godawful orange teams would have two losses, both losing to us. Who gets left out then? I’m guessing it’s us. I think Smart has pissed off the committee with his recent comments.
Agreed. I think the only way we get in is if we win the SECCG. We could beat Tech by 90 and lose the CG by 1 on a last second 73 yd FG and well be the first team out
Mr. Vectordawg,
Don’t worry, as much as that committee dislikes UGA. we will not even be in the playoff if we lose to GT or the SEC Champ. game. They do not understand strength of schedule, and how it effects a true Championship Playoff.
How in the hell is TN #8?
How is Alabama #13?
We should be #3 or #4, only behind Oregon, Ohio State, and maybe Penn State. Those are the teams I wouldn’t want to play in their houses right now. Once we start clicking a little more on both sides of the ball, I think we smoke all of them at a neutral site, and Penn State looks slow as hell so we’d probably already spank them as long as we’re not in Happy Valley at night during a whiteout.
Happy valley in a white out or not, UGA kicks pedo state’s ass. Far superior talent at UGA and James fucking Franklin at psu makes the difference.
Don’t forget the possible lovely weather of a night game in Happy Valley next month.
I know it won’t stay this way, but dang. Play the toughest schedule in all of football, “hey, let’s make them play the toughest playoff bracket!, and let’s make sure the games are in the rain and their helmet comms don’t work!”
I don’t see how it matters at this point. We either have a bye or we’re out. I don’t see us getting in with a 3rd loss, period.
Nope, that spot will go to bama
Still a lot of games and championship week to play. We either end up as the 2 seed SEC Champion or 12 seed.
I expect behind the scenes Greg Sankey will be playing loud and clear his version don’t make me go there. If Georgia bets tech and loses the SECCG. Baring a total blowout loss. He’ll make clear the team with the #1 strength of schedule from the conference with highest winning percentage in the playoffs better get in. Or you won’t like future negotiations with us. Beat tech and I believe Georgia is in.
