Kirby ain’t going to Michigan, I can tell you that. But after the national embarrassment that was the SECCG, I could see DeBoer running for the smooth, low rising hills of the B1Gteen.
And just like that, breaking news was coming…from parody accounts, no less, but I’m guessing this is everyone’s leading thought at the moment.
Let’s see how it plays out. If DeBoer bolts and Alabama loses to Oklahoma (btw, news reports are that Ty Simpson has a slipped disc in his back…probably from folding like a lawn chair on that busted run play) just imagine the howling and whining that will come from the Irish fanbase. Christmas has come early.
I was just talking to a colleague who was a Michigan grad, both undergrad and law school, and he said they need to fire everyone in the place and start over, including the AD. He conceded that the ethos of the “Michigan man” who acts with integrity is just a myth. The AD has overseen multiple scandals, and takes great effort to cover them up. Not only the Sherrone Moore and Connor Riley stories, but there was Matt Weiss, a former assistant who is facing federal criminal charges and multiple civil suits for hacking into the accounts of thousands of female college athletes to obtain intimate photos and videos. Then there was Shemy Schembechler (son of Bo) who was fired after only 9 months for some racially insensitive stuff on social media. Going all the way back to Bo Schembechler, Michigan just settled a suit a couple years ago that something like 1,000 former male athletes were sexually abused by a doctor in the program, and Bo knew about it. That settled for $490M.
