Rough week last week in Georgia basketball, losing to a rival and all, especially Florida. The Hoops Dawgs bounced back with a gritty win in Columbia behind Somto Cyril (we really, really need Somto), but we’re still hanging around the Top 25.
In case you’re still not watching, Kanon Catchings is also fun to watch.
Up next: Ole Miss in Athens this Wednesday. Maybe the hoopsters can get some revenge for the football team, huh?
I have enjoyed watching the hoop dawgs. First time in a long time.
Yep. I like it if they win (which they have been doing) but mostly I like the style of play. As long as they hustle on defense and set up highly makeable shots on offense, I’m happy. Seems like they are even making most of their free throws. In past years other teams could foul with impunity confident we will miss half or more of our chances.
That was a big road win over scu on Saturday. 2-1 in the sec and home game next. Looking good so far.
Florida is playing well and I wouldn’t fret too much about a road loss to them where the starting center gets tossed in the first half. Hoop Dogs didn’t have much of a chance after that. Add in Wilkinson tweaking his ankle and it would have been a monumental feat to win that game in Gainesville.

Concur. FU has played close in loses to the likes of Duke and UConn then manhandled Tennessee. We’re fine but know that we can’t play without the likes of Somto.
Seeing UGA hoops in the sec this season, they are a top 20ish team, sec isn’t the badass they were last year, they might be a middling conference, good (solid 4-5 teams), just not like last year…GO DAWGS!!
We’ll pay back the Gators when they come to Athens. Meanwhile, big win in Columbia. Any road win in the SEC is nice. We must protect our home court.
I watched the eUSC game live and yes, I was entertained. Down 12 near halftime I started to crawl into a feral position (actually just napped) and was thoroughly impressed with the comeback. This ain’t a Mark Fox team. Better players, deep bench, always attacking and by god they play D! Congrats to Coach White for assembling this group and getting them to play so well.
One SEC team in the top 15????
