Wow, I knew he was good in the 2nd half but, didn’t realize this. He is gritty, tough, and a pretty damn good QB.

Maybe it takes poor defense to inspire a prolific offense.
Gunner did say he needed to play more loose. Mission accomplished.
And CMB… sweet potato pie and shut my mouth. The only thing I can fault you for is not leaving the booth sometime in the 3rd quarter, coming down to the sideline, and slapping CGS upside the head.

1 classic dumb ass RB pass play is my only bobo complaint. The rest was great play calling keeping a mix of run/ pass inside/outside. A penalty and gunner not seeing 16 is all that kept UGA from scoring a TD on every drive, minus the victory plays.

On a night when we needed to score every time we got the ball, we did it.
And we did it in a way that absolutely wore down the opposing defense and kept the opposing offense on the sideline.
There was nothing flukish about getting to 40:
34 first downs
Over 50% combined 3rd and 4th down efficiency
500+ total yards
Over 37:00 of time of possession
If the defense had done anything to help the first 3 quarters (except be stout against the run), this game would have been an absolute rout.

Not to be anointing or “best ever” here, #14 is the right man for the job, #14 is the right man for the Team, considering the strength of this edition of UGA football, like it or not, #14 is the man….GO DAWGS!!

Not enough love for that McCray 4th down run. If he doesn’t find a way to scramble for that first down and we likely lose the game. Our OL got blown up there.

Pointed out elsewhere, the 2nd & 12 to Bell was gutsy and a bullet. Many others too but don’t overlook Gunner’s save of the snap on the last FG. He is one calm cat under pressure.

Can’t say enough about the receivers yesterday. When you look at Gunner’s stats, he was the beneficiary of what all great QBs get…. catches on balls that are not great throws. It turned a good day into a great day. Not even all of Tom Brady’s or Payton Manning’s throws were right on the money. Sometimes you have to have receivers who adjust and make an OK throw a great catch. That happened on several occasions yesterday. Gunner made a throw that was a little behind, too low, too high, etc. They adjusted and made the catch. This is what we were missing last year. It turns a good QB in to a great QB. Sometimes people forget that there are two people that have to be good to make a successful throw happen. Last year the vast majority of them (and some right in the hands) would have been on the ground. That also makes Gunner much more confident to just let it rip.

This explains why this team loves Gunner and will run through a brick wall for him.
“This was the best performance of Stockton’s career, but earlier this week no one would have guessed he had this in him. Kirby Smart shared after the game on Saturday that Stockton has been dealing with an oblique injury. This injury forced him to miss practice on Monday and Tuesday this week and it also led Smart to not want to utilize him in the run game.
Upon finding that out, Stockton went to Smart and convinced him in the best way possible that he has to let him run the ball.
“I mean, he literally couldn’t practice. His oblique, the shots he took at Auburn, he’s beat up,” Smart shared via 247sports.com. “And we’re like, okay, we won’t use you in the quarterback run game. We’ll get to you. ‘Uh-huh, coach, I want to run it. I want to run it. My team needs to see me run it.’ And he did.”
Contrast this to Beck’s comments after their loss Friday where he threw the WR under the bus and then backed it up over him after the last of multiple interceptions.
This could explain a lot about how the team responded to Gunner coming in the game at Texas last year after Beck went down.
“I mean we had a perfect play for it, we just had a miscommunication with the route and what we were doing so,” Beck started before throwing his receiver under the bus. “Just ran the route wrong and I went to go throw it because we’re hot off of a pressure and again he made a good play on it. But it definitely didn’t help that we ran the wrong play.
Both are talented QBs for sure, but only one seems to be a leader.
