  1. Cool idea, but I don’t see it ever taking off. They have hyped the CFP to the point where it is the only goal worth achieving each year. For teams that don’t make it (plus us, apparently), once the bracket is revealed there’s a mad rush for the portal. I can’t see players who are inclined to transfer sticking around to play in this.

  2. Love the idea, but like mentioned above rosters would be decimated by transfers and opt outs. If they did do it you could use this to fill some of the Bowl game matchups to make those more interesting.

  3. First of all, I actually think this could have legs, even if the players wouldn’t be as motivated to play in it as the CFP. It’s about dollars, and if the bowls don’t make it, this will.

  4. Ok – I’m going to be the contrarian. We say 1 bowl game is a meaningless exhibition. Multiply that by 3 or 4.

I love college football, but this is a firm no for me.

  5. If they would MOVE the Transfer Portal to February or March (or whenever Winter classes are over), wouldn’t that make this work?

    • Assuming these players are still students as well, they can’t move the portal back that late because they’ll miss spring enrollment.
