Sorry for this repost but it fits better here:
Question: If the IMG Academy can be created to be a pure sports training program for HS kids, how long before the NFL creates and funds a new college to be a feeder program? It would be a non-conference affiliated “all star” team playing against establishment programs. It’s the kind of job opportunity that could pay Kirby $100M to run in football and have the best of everything for all of the other mainline sports. If I’m a top HS athlete and getting paid to go there, why bother with attending a “real” school? The NFL and NBA owners can easily afford to fund and thus exert control over the development of top draft choices. The Senator always argued (correctly) that the billionaires didn’t need to spend money when the colleges were doing it for free, but in this new environment they will want and need to have some level of control over or else the other monied interests will begin to distort their free minor league system. It would take Jerry Jones about a day to create such an animal at his Frisco, TX complex and TV will fall all over themselves to schedule such a program against the big name schools (so it wouldn’t really cost Jerry or other owners anything to create). The NCAA and Conference commissioners will gladly take the money to let this new entity into the fold.
I truly expect to see something like this by 2030 and an European version by 2040.
Please don’t give them any ideas.
