Good morning. I don’t have much today. Boys and girls both won their games on the diamond yesterday. Charlie Condon hit 2 HRs and now leads the NCAA with 11. Dawgs hit their 3rd grand slam in their 3rd straight game, this one courtesy of Dylan Goldstein.
Go Dawgs!
This is a PSA that should be plastered across headlines everywhere!
Fire ant bites should be treated immediately with acetone. I use fingernail polish remover WITH acetone on gauze pads. Wipe the bit skin and hold it on if it has been awhile since the bite. Pain relief is immediate; but, the best part is the next day there is no evidence you were bitten. Not even a red spot and damn sure not that angry, pus infested zit that refuses to heal and leaves a pockmark and scaling. The best treatment for that PIZ is drain it, wash it and clean it out with hydrogen peroxide and it heals much faster. I haven’t had one of those zits since I started using acetone as treatment. Acetone also neutralizes wasp & bee stings and chigger bites.
I keep a bottle handy inside and outside plus in my truck. They also make little self-contained, one use pads.
I’ll try that next time. Been using a semi-effective method involving toothpaste. Takes the pain and itch out temporarily but reapplication is necessary.
The acetone is neutralizing the formic acid injected in your skin.
HC Mike Leach would’ve been 63 today.
The proprietor of this site, whose initials are Otis Day, should take note that today is 03/09/2024.
RR, since I retired, my new motto is “always put off until tomorrow what you can do today”! But, seriously, the weekend isn’t time for business, we’ll tackle it Monday and get started.
🤣😂🫵
Yeah, RR, when I saw the dates, my thinking was the spring forward thing ain’t what it used to be.
Well, maybe, just maybe, an incident so strange and hideous happened to the artist formally known as “Morris” on 3/9 and Mr. Days shrunken skull doctor prescribed the “one day calendar block”, where the patient skips from the 8th to the 10th during the ides of March, the true effects are not felt until the 11th, which falls on Microdot Monday…as they say, Down Island Way…”Tongue-tied and twisted
Just an earthbound misfit, I”….GO DAWGS!!
Otis is human?!? I am so fuckin’ disillusioned!!! 😉
Go Dawgs!
An amended PSA #2, to our lovely Ranger…UGA gives a giant “L” to FU in Womens Tennis…#FTMF!!
😂🤣😅😆
…lovely…?
Yesterday, 03/08/2024, Seth Emerson had mailbag column up and he tried to answer these two related questions:
The loser of the conference championship has it worse than the at-large teams that stayed at home because it will playing an extra game. I feel like there should be more discourse as to why teams don’t want to make the conference championship games. — Zachariah A.
Let’s suppose Georgia, Texas and Alabama are all 11-1 and 7-1 in the conference. Does Kirby Smart want to win the tiebreaker and potentially get a first-round bye, or is he secretly OK with losing the tiebreaker and getting a guaranteed week off followed by a home game against probably a No. 11 or No. 12 seed? — Robby W.
He takes a long time going through various scenarios including some pre-playoff history that we’re familiar with:
“There should be strong arguments to the selection committee not to penalize teams for playing in the SEC championship. Too often that happens, such as in 2012 when Georgia came up 5 yards short of Alabama but fell out of the Sugar Bowl down to the Citrus Bowl, while Florida, sitting at home, went to the Sugar Bowl.”
In the end, though he admits that while you can make an argument for staying out of a championship game it’s here to stay as long as the money is still good, and that are some scenarios where it could and probably would backfire. What do y’all think?
Conference championship games are dead now. They just don’t know it. They will keep sucking the money out of it, but after the losers get screwed over multiple times, the schools will push back on them.
Condon is tearing the cover off the ball right now.
The Lady Diamond Dawgs may go deep into May/June.
The calendar only says early March, with sec play starting next week, at the current pace, UGA baseball ain’t sneaking up on anyone, but ya gotta’ love whut ya see so far, Coach Johnson and staff are as productive as the team…GO DAWGS!
Interesting. Not as good as the fire ant treatment, but still interesting.

The Big Ten and SEC already earn more revenue than the rest of the NCAA’s conferences due to their massive media rights deals, and now the two are looking to lap the field when it comes to College Football Playoff revenue.
Per a Friday report from Yahoo, the Big Ten and SEC would receive 58% of the College Football Playoff base revenue in its new contract. The Big 12 and ACC would combine for just 31%, with the 10% or so left going to Notre Dame and the Group of Five. That would be a gap of over $300 million, with another $300 million gap between the ACC/Big 12 and the Group of Five.
What is it going to take for these diamond dawgs to be ranked in the top 25? I have been watching the rankings this years, really for the first time, and have noticed it is rare for teams to fall and climb in and out of the top 25, regardless of how many bad losses the ranked teams seem to collect. It’s like they have their favorite 25 and those 25 can do no wrong, regardless of losing hand of their games during the week. I mean Florida is now 10-5, went 2-2 this past week, and some of those losses are real bad losses, yet they remain in the top 10. Some team named Campbell fighting camels are 11-4, lost this week, and still remain in the top 25 over big conference schools who are balling out like UGA and Florida State. I don’t get it. Maybe it’s always been this way, and I have never paid attention, but these rankings are odd.
