Hello Darkness My Old Friend

Geez.

Can’t say we didn’t deserve it. Poor defense coupled with Somto racking up four fouls in what felt like four minutes in the 2nd didn’t help.

The refs didn’t help much either.

Then again, they never do, do they?

  1. Shooting lights out from the perimeter. So instead of taking the gift 3s, let’s have our guards dribble into the paint and try to launch a prayer over opposing big men.

  2. Never should have went into overtime. Our defense seems to hid under a rock the last two minutes of the game. Happened with Auburn. Also Cyril should avg 20pts a game. Feed it to the big man. Damn.

  3. Watched it. As soon as Ole Miss pulled a tie out of their ass to send it to overtime I got a sick feeling. And whoever that clown was on commentary talking about “It would just be HUGE for Ole Miss to steal a wine here.” was just way too much like what annoys me in football season. The Dawgs are pretty good but they aren’t quite ready. When Sonto fouled out it was as good as over. Frustrating.

  4. That was gross… same old bullshit. Late turnovers. Can’t make clutch free throws. Can’t find any offense in crunch time.

And no the refs didn’t help.

    • We score 95 and 87 in regulation. The problem was we didn’t defend worth a damn.

  5. An unnecessary loss but the season is still young and full of promise.

*click*. TV off, see you in August.

  6. That’s the Georgia hoops I remember! That’s why I have 40 years of hoops PTSD from watching it.

  7. Chris Beard now 2-0 v PeeWee. We could’ve had Beard between 2024 & 2025 season.

  8. 2 of the 3 games we’ve lost this year were games where we scored 94 and 95 points, but gave up 97. Defense and rebounding could very easily keep this team out of the NCAA tourney. Sadly, Ole Miss just wanted it more. They made all the plays when the game was on the line. One play in particular spoke volumes. In regulation, after Wilkinson missed a driving layup that would have put us up by 4 with about 25 seconds to go. The rebound hit the floor in the lane between Kanon Catchings and an Ole Miss player. Catchings was a little closer and would have gotten the ball if he showed more effort. Instead, the Ole Miss player lunged and poked the ball forward to another Ole Miss player who drove down the court to tie the game a few seconds later. The game was on the line in that instance and Catchings still wasn’t willing to give 100%. The game could’ve been won on other plays so I don’t mean to be too hard on Catchings. Blue Cain picked a hell of a time to play his worst game at UGA. He was awful at both ends of the court to the point Mike White wouldn’t put him in the game over the final 10 minutes of regulation and OT.

This game really could send us on a downward spiral. The next four games are Arkansas, at Mizzou, at Texas and Tennessee. I’d be very happy with a split, but we could easily lose all four of those games.

  9. I quit watching at the end of regulation when we had a 4-point lead and decided that was enough. I’ve seen this story far too many times to invest any more time. Someone text me if we make the Sweet 16, though…

  10. The effort on defense was so poor I texted our group thread that I suspected there was money on the over.
