Friday Night Lights Off for the SEC

Greg Sankey says “nay nay” to any games played on a Friday.

If would be very off-brand for the SEC to play on Friday nights…unless you’re Mississippi, where’s it’s totally fine.

Of course, it’s very off-brand for the SEC to defer to the B1G’s scheduling model, but I digress.

His logic is correct, though, Friday Nights are for high school football, and it is likely (don’t know because I haven’t lived outside the south) true that Fridays would get lower viewership for a Friday SEC tilt given that most of your red-blooded football fans are out watching a high school game.

How do you feel about it?

  1. So UGA and the trade school won’t be the day after Thanksgiving? Or is it just no conference games on Friday?

  2. Congrats to the SEC on doing the bare minimum of preserving tradition. I give it until the next Streaming deal get inked. $EC, it ju$t mean$ more.

  3. If you work, you still can get to your home high school game and probably an away game too. Hard to get to Athens and certainly can’t get to an away game. Thanks for using common sense Sankey. I’m sure he feels great about doing this.

  4. College football should be played on Saturdays only and I loathe the day that events hialtdawg suggests actually happen.

  5. And Thursdays should be for the smaller high schools and the ACC…but I repeat myself…
