Cole Cubelic has the question of the day:
Aside from spelling, of course, that’s a good question. Is it Cignetti and older mercenaries for hire? Is it Michigan and their propensity for evil? Is it NIL, and its ability to make yearly rosters more like college basketball?
Or…
Discuss.
LOL, staffing for this matter is at least one senior partner, two junior partners, two mid-level associates, and three junior associates/senior paralegals, plus all the IT/tech/discovery/document specialists, etc….
Exactly. Math is hard for Tom.
The lawyers are the bad guys here. Good on them for figuring out a way to monetize the chaos, but they are destroying the product.
Jeffrey Kessler is the villain. He started out trying to help the players get a piece of the pie. That completely changed when he decided Brendan Sorsby needed his day in court. Even Tom Mars thought that was a bridge too far.
Texas Tech fans like to paint themselves as the villain. I just think they have a little brother complex that is beyond comical.
The real villain of the colleges is Miami. They clearly tampered with a player under an agreement to his current school (and that school is in their own conference).
The university presidents whose greed is beyond comprehension and still refuse to collectively bargain and Mickey who dictates everything.
Michigan is just pond scum.
Never understood the Cignetti hate. He follows the same rules everyone else does WRT to signing players. Did he take better advantage of it? Maybe. But he took players that others teams didn’t take and won every game they played. Hard to argue with that.
He’s not a warm and fuzzy guy, but none of the top coaches are. We’ll see if he can maintain that success now that everyone knows who Indiana is, but I don’t think he’s going away or that Indiana will fall back to their old losing ways while he’s there.
Agree, I have nothing but respect for Cignetti. What he has done with the Indiana program is astonishing. It’s the most amazing story in the history of college football. If I ran a college football program, and were hiring a new coach and had unlimited resources, my first call would be to Kirby. My second call would be to Cignetti.
Disney and its diabolical minions.
Florida. FTMF
Biggest villain in CFB? I’d say basically any major program coming out of Texas. Hard to pick just one. I could name a basketful of others, but this NIL thing brought the big-spending, all-hat-no cattle crowd from the Lone Star state to the fore.
Biggest Villain? Sports Journaltainent. The manufactured, selective outrage that hits anyone involved in CFB for a rectal deposit news cycle or two. Example: There was more handwringing at Corch getting a lap dance than Sherrone Moore Uber Eating Plan B pills to the office. Full disclosure: many of y’all conduct your lives in a manner that both are unacceptable, (I on the other hand skew more to Augustus McCrae, wrapped up in Doc Holliday all smothered in Raylan Givens sauce) but which story got more run. Wow, a tweet about $11 mil dropped on legal bills? How about Coach Weiss thumbing through hundreds of student records?
If Pat McAffee can’t lecture us before pounding protein powder shirtless to the beat will it even become a story? And what context is the partial information presented?
Gone are the days where you could wake up at 0700 and get the West Coast scores. I ain’t changed, that’s all I want from the SportsCenter. Y’all have seen my posts, I can conjecture just fine on my own.
The real “villian” here… is Cole’s Auburn education.
Post of the day!
… Auburn “education.”
Cole actually seems like a solid, knowledgeable guy. The show Cole and Roman Harper do on SEC Network during football season is very informative, and pretty non-homerish.
But, spelling is hard for AU grads. It is known.🤣🤣🤣🤣
The current biggest villain nationally. If a vote was taken I would bet on Lane Kiffin to win.
Hmmm, I will go with the Worldwide Leader … most everything they touch has been to diminish the uniqueness of college football and turn it into a system that makes it easy for them to monetize.
The Senator used to say that ESPN is the devil.
Not in any certain order…
Mickey

nil, for not having been established 100 years sooner….GO DAWGS!!
My goodness. I looked for the misspelling twice then asked my wife and she caught it first time. I am good with dirt and electronics. She was a proof reader in another life. Damn.
