I’ve become increasingly more sick of off-season football this year. Maybe it’s because it’s been a year of blogging and I didn’t realize how dead this space was, or maybe it’s because it seems that the off-season is just full of pure and utter fantasy and click-bait. Consider the following:
Allow me to say this again…Ewers played hurt the entire damned year yet there was something about Manning that Sarkisian saw where he thought “nah, we’re good to launch this next year”. Lagway might have talent, but the guy is fragile and to be ranked ahead of Lanorris Sellers, who actually seemed to help make Gamecock football relevant again (that’s heavy lifting), is just…just whatever.
Then there’s this bit of fantasy…
I’ll save you the time, apparently Miami goes undefeated throughout the regular season except against FSU. Miami runs the table and heads on to face Georgia in the National Championship and loses. What’s worse is that apparently Miami fans feel that they have gotten stronger and better, despite having a #1 NFL QB draft pick walk out the door who still couldn’t get a team any better than the Cheez Its Bowl. While there is considerable excitement around Beck, he does have to have someone to throw to, and Miami’s receiving room is incredibly thin. Crystalbal might want to call Kirby and ask him what that’s like.
And then there’s this:
To even have 2023 Michigan on this list is hilarious and insulting at the same time. Per Mandel, part of the criteria is that there are no “blowout losses” suffered by a team in this category, and apparently 2021 Georgia’s loss to Alabama in the SECCG keeps them off this list. Never mind having one of the best defenses of all time. Never mind that 2023 Michigan cake-walked through the softest version of the B1G ever, cheated their way through the season, and avoided Georgia thanks to some questionable…ah, never mind.
If there’s one bright spot, we’re approaching 100 days until kickoff of the Georgia football season (102 away). Can’t come fast enough.
jp, I give you and all of the other posters credit for keeping with the blog on a daily basis and not losing your collective minds. Thank you for sifting through all of the media’s nonsense so the rest of us don’t have to.
If a top ten list for meatloaf or BBQ sauce recipes exist, then a meaningful top ten list for college football position players surely is needed in mid May, no worries till the season starts and the new update will arrive….GO DAWGS!!
The only chance (and by chance – winning 8 games) da U might have is CB ain’t been there long enough for the rest of the team to hate his guts.
Mandel is an idiot. Georgia 2021 with that defense likely rips through a number of teams on that list.
Thanks for that second twix. I appreciate even more my decision to cancel The Athletic.
It may seem quiet here at the blog but I, for one, read every word every day and appreciate the hell out of it, even when we are limited to the typical summer drivel for content.
Hang in there, JP. We are almost into June. Media Days are coming and once July is here we are just about to camp starting. I know it probably doesnāt feel like it but we are in the short rows as far as football drought. To me May is the hardest month of the offseason. Too distant from the previous season to make talk about that interesting and still too far off from the next season to have much to talk about. We are almost through the worst part. I remember May being especially tough around here last year. Youāre doing great. Keep it up. Wonāt be long now.
And BTW, where Otis? Havenāt seen him around in a while.
Iāve said this before, but Carson hasnāt even thrown a ball yet. Heās got 4 months of rehab left before he can play a game. Who knows if the rehab goes well, if the surgery went well, if he suffers a setback or reinjures it. People need to stop talking about Carson doing big things this year.
Crisco Balls said they Carson is throwing and āfull steam aheadā. I find that hard to believe.
He told reporters at ACC media days that he was about to start throwing.

Sorry, āfull throttleā. This guy is smoke and mirrors so Iāll believe it when I see him out there for game one.
Guess it depends on who heās talking to, lol.
Bum arse fanatics never had them no Larry Munson to tell them what the future is all about, lol
