Fabris Pool Friday Night Kick This Week

A fairly thin slate of good matchups gets us a Group of 5 showdown Friday evening.

Q: How many Mississippi State grads does it take to screw in a light bulb?*

Good luck this week!

Your humble commish,

Dawglicious

*None. Starkville looks better in the dark.

(I know I’ve told that one before, but it’s one of my faves.)

  1. Stupid question, I’ve never been to Stark…vegas, and may never, do they play “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” in the stadium accompanied by 50K+ cowbells, because if not, they’re missing a huge opportunity? I would maybe consider going for that, and to see the real Dawgs of course.

    • They play the SNL skit with Christopher Walken (“Bruce Dickinson”) saying “I got a fever. And the only cure is more cowbell.” It’s pretty funny. The whole crowd quotes it and then they ring their bells.

Starkvegas is okay for a game. Just wear earplugs and it’s not bad.

Years ago in Starkville, I had a woman try to start a fight with me as we were celebrating a victory and she said “all you’ve got is Herschel Walker” and I replied “that’s all we need” and started singing the Ken L Ration dog food jingle “My dog’s better than your dog.” I may have been a tad obnoxious.

    • I’ve been to several games there. Definitely take ear plugs. All in all it’s a good place for a game, crowd has always been good (maybe b/c I’ve got the in-law connections when I go to tailgates) or maybe b/c they just know their expectations are mediocre at best. I think I mentioned on another post recently that I prefer tailgating there than I do the Grove in Oxford.

  2. Not sure if they play the song but they used to play part of the SNL skit with Christopher Walken saying “more cowbell”.

  3. They’re good salt of the earth folks…hard to hate on them..
Now TEXAS is a different story..
But I’ll save my seething for them until after the MSU game.

    • I live amongst them, so I get to hate them 24/7/365. They are just as obnoxious in the off season as they are in season. I disliked them before they joined the SEC. I have gone from dislike to despise to hate after the bottle fiasco.
