Outside of Jared Wilson and an injured Kenny McIntosh, there wasn’t much of a local rooting interest in last night’s game. But…
Pretty amazing journey that Macdonald took to get there, but seeing two Georgia alumni on the stage together was still pretty neat.
Macdonald is a UGA graduate.
Yeah both are. That Twixt was either dumb or obtuse.
Devon Witherspoon is the son of former UGA linebacker Will Witherspoon. I can’t remember much these days but I believe he played in the Donnan years. I do remember he made on of the most impossible plays against LSU (?) to save a Bulldog win. He made an impossibly high leap to knock down a sure TC pass into the end zone to save a GA win. Also played in the NFL.
Yes. He swatted a 2pt conversion throw back pass down in the end zone that would have won the game for LSU.
Will Witherspoon is Panama City Beach’s favorite son as a graduate of Rutherford High School. Go Rams.
Didn’t know about Mike but watching Maria Taylor’s rise to success has been great…both are DGDs.
ESPN did her a great favor by letting her go. Hating UGA as much as he seems to, I wonder if Herbstreit had anything to do with Maria and Pollack being fired? 🤔🤔
Herbstreit may think he has power but he didn’t get Maria Taylor fired from ESPN. Also, one could argue that ESPN made a big negotiating error when they lowered her contract offer despite Maria being the anchor for their national NBA coverage.
She moved to NBC and is now the anchor for their NFL coverage, NBA coverage and probably will be flying to Milan for Olympic coverage today.

Met her when she was at ESPN, & they were my client. Her desk was covered in UGA swag. I remember asking her, “aren’t you Maria Taylor? I went to UGA also”. She was super cool, & never forgot to say hi when we saw each other. Finebaum, on the other hand…prick with ears.
That’s an insult to pricks, and to ears.
No idea we had an alum as NFL coach. Really can’t recall hearing of him in a UGA context.
He was never a player at UGA. He was an assistant coach at Cedar Shoals while he was an undergraduate. After he got his Batchelors Degree he stayed at UGA as a grad student. Right hired him as a grad assistant. He did 2 years at UGA as a grad assistant.
