I’m glad for 47 that he landed on his feet after the way ESPN unceremoniously dumped him. He seems to be using his platform for good in all facets of life. He keeps getting knocked down for circumstances outside his control and gets up to keep fighting the good fight.
Selecting a favored subject as being the illustration of the “cleansing” effect of being a corporate cog is a giant pile of bullshit. Espn is no different than any other. Its about the money, period.

First off, as a football player, I hold David Pollack in the highest regard. His interception against S.C. was perhaps the most phenomenal play I’ve ever seen. That said, there are two issues here that I see, and maybe this is a Playpen topic.
Your employer has the right to modulate your behavior as it reflects back on their brand. To use an extreme example, if your social media promotes the NAMBLA association, ESPN would have the right to warn, and/or terminate you based off of the damage that your employment could do to their brand. Anyone have a problem with that?
Persecuted Christian. David chose the hill of transgender to die on. Less than 1% of the population identify as transgender, about the same percentage as the Hasidic Jews. If you feel the need to punch down on someone, why not them? The Hasidic Jews at least have a choice in their orientation. IMO the LGBTQ community does not have the option of having been born differently than they are, the same with Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, and people who love grits. We’re all coincidences of birth, and David’s Christian teachings should have left him more tolerant for those who weren’t given the gifts he has received.
I’m sure that he’s hurt that ESPN didn’t want to keep him on, but it was his choice. Suck it up and preach transphobia from a different pulpit if that’s your true calling. Or, you could “grow a set of onions” and be brave enough to accept people who are different from you.
Haha! You think ESPN would have a problem with NAMBLA. Last I checked, biological males competing against biological females is a choice. Is liking little boys or girls a choice? Not sure by your logic. So truthphobic!

I’m not in favor of anybody being treated bad but to act like it makes sense for ninety nine percent to have to tip toe around for one percent so as to not make them mad is dumb. Framing this as cowardice on Pollak’s part and an inability to “accept people who are different” is dishonest and just exposes your own bias. For whatever reason, the Trans community seems to be the biggest problem, for some groups, that we need to solve. Yes, they only constitute 1%, but they are the powerless 1%, not the other 1%. Are they really the scourge on our society that we are led to believe? Could David use his influence to help a marginalized portion of society gain acceptance?
I used the “grow a set of onions” analogy because that’s what he said in his interview. We may all disagree about what the brave act in this situation is, but I’m pretty sure that making life harder for Trans kids is not it.
What rights do I have that trans Americans dont. Be specific. I’ll wait. The truth is, most people wouldn’t care about this if it wasn’t being call blasted at all of us all the time. How will I know you’re trans if you don’t tell me? As ever it’s not about tolerance or even acceptance, it’s about being celebrated. Sorry, you’re not special because you’re delusional.

If so, I don’t believe you could trust my answer, I might be in the midst of a delusion. On the other hand, is the Trans community not special and delusional? If you’re saying the Trans community is delusional and not special then I guess you think it’s all in their heads.
It’s funny how we sometimes look at one group or another and make uninformed decisions about what it must be like to be them. I remember Chris Rock asking an audience one time, “Is there any white person in this audience that would trade places with me? Come on now, I’m rich as f*ck and none of you would trade places with a black man?”
To my point, we don’t choose our sexual-orientation. If so, why would we pick an orientation that would cause us to be ridiculed or vilified? Why would someone choose something that would become half of the Republican’s 2024 ad campaign? Wanting to feel special? Or just delusional?
