Racehorse Davis!
When Mrs. Anonymous and I were dating, Mr. Davis rented her his house and he lived very simply in the converted detached garage out back.
She is a Univ. of Kentucky grad and his greatness as a ball player was lost on her. He would occasionally dog- sit her pug, Elvis.
When I told her how legendary he was, Mrs. A. was taken aback. “I just thought Racehorse was just a sweet retired gentleman.” My dad grew up on that island and Racehorse was his hero as a kid being the local made good.
Oh…also…always loved #53’s facial expression in that photo
