Countdown to Georgia Bulldogs Football, 53 Days

Good morning!

Well, the long weekend is in the rearview, summer’s rolling along and we’re down to 53 days left before… football!

Here’s card #153 from the set:

Go Dawgs!

  1. He only made more than half his field goals one year out of three. My how the times have changed.

  2. What a difference 56 years makes. Second team All Conference kicker who makes just 43.8% of his field goal attempts in an era when he kicked EPs and FGs off a tee? That would not be acceptable for a SEC team’s scout team kicker today.

  3. Interesting. Never heard of him. I always thought of Bobby Etter and Peter “the Bootin’ Teuton” Rajecki kicking during that time.

    • A Macon boy, led UGA in scoring all three years I believe. A walk-on along with Spike Jones. McCollough was a Lanier High School classmate with the late Jiggy Smaha. Best football name ever.

  4. Lol, he’s listed taller and heavier than yesterday’s lineman

  5. “…I’m either gonna do your taxes, sell you an insurance policy or kick your ass…your choice!”

  6. His brother Bill was also a kicker and letterman. He coached high school for 44 years. I know he was at Woodward Academy for most of it. Helluva good man. I worked with him for seven summers at the Governor’s Honor Program. He still has the football that was the last point scored (PAT) in the game before tech left the SEC.
