I also posit that Scott Woerner was DGD and fun to watch.
Was that group of defenders (’77- ’80), under the guidance/tutelage of Coach Erk Russell, over perform or outperform any & all expectations…DL, LB, DB it didn’t matter the position, they didn’t seem all that talented, come game day they really played, what seemed to be, organized football….when it was next man up, that student athlete would come through….GO DAWGS!!

College Football Hall of Fame, one of the best to ever play for Georgia. DGD
Woerner was one of those lunch-pail type guys that could do a little bit of everything. I saw him play once in his Jonesboro HS days and I’m not sure if he ever came off the field.
Two all time great plays in the 78 Tech game. Of course the punt return. Second, sometime late 3rd quarter he slid into a pile up and gave Eddie Lee Ivery’s knee an extra twist and Ivery left the game for good. We couldn’t stop Ivery all day.
