One of the things I like about Otis posting the cards with pictures on the Sanford Stadium field is seeing how the home of the Dawgs has changed. The infrastructure behind the east end zone is remarkably different. You can see what is apparently the railroad bridge over River Road in this picture.

I loved that old score board! Plus the view from the tracks was great…fun. 😀
Vince put ol’ Douglas right up there with the “finest long snappah” he’d ever seen.

1964 & 1965 Vince was of the “defense and special teams are the most important ” play not to lose era. He paid more attention to kickers, holders and snappers than he did to Barbara.

Not to pick nits..but Model High and Darlington High (not Darlingon) are both high schools in Rome or Floyd Co. Is Rome where he’s actually from? Not familiar with this fella but definitely familiar with these places. Just curious.

That was not a nit you picked. There have been numerous errors on the cards.
I knew there was a Model High and Darlington School but I just wondered if Darlington School was in a community named Darlington. Obviously, since you know the territory.

Nah..it’s a/the private school in Rome. It’s in South Rome if any specific area…but very close to Downtown. Right down from Myrtle Hill, where Ellen Wilson is buried. 1st wife of Woodrow – from Savannah but grew up in Rome. Bored yet? Haha..

This is what author James Dickey had to say about Darlington School: “a more disgusting combination of cant, hypocrisy, cruelty, class privilege, and inanity I have never since encountered at any human institution.” Now THAT is a highly educated ass chewing!
