Not really college football related, but a message many of us here (Gen Xers and older, especially) needs to hear.
I’ll be scheduling my overdue colonoscopy today. Time to face the music and rectify my rectal hesitations. Pun intended. Also doing my yearly physical and blood screens for good measure.
Doctors for Deion Sanders announced Monday that the former NFL star was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer, but that after surgery, he is cured.
Dr. Janet Kukreja, the director of urologic oncology at the CU Cancer Center/UCHealth University of Colorado hospital, said Sanders, who turns 58 next month, had his bladder removed as part of the surgical plan.
It was his 14th surgery since 2021.
We love you guys and love the chatter. Stay healthy and live to bitch and gripe another day…and 14 surgeries in 4 years isn’t for the weak of wallet.
Get your screenings done now…your Saturdays are about to be occupied, amirite?
When you walk in the doctor’s office for that colonoscopy be sure to announce: “All right Mr. DeMille I’m ready for my closeup!”
My first one it was morphine through an IV tube and wuh! did that kick in. Last two, propofol, the latest wonder drug.
Another response to Andrew Nemec’s smug comment is that there is a generations long distrust of hospitals and doctors in a significant part of the Black community. Sanders was delivering a message to those members of the community to trust modern medicine. That is a valuable message. Since Nemec didn’t understand folks different from him he got snarky.
There’s no reason to fear a colonoscopy. It’s some of the best sleep you’ll ever have.
God bless whoever invented Propofol. I know folks like to bang on big Pharma, but my wife would not be here without it and the better medicines discovered in the past decade. I enjoy bitching from time to time and am a proponent of “get off my lawn”, but some of the good old days were not so good, just old.
Just set aside “prep day”. Need to stay close to the head.
Nothing like that last drink that runs through you, well like “shit through a tin horn.”
After reviewing my colonoscopy results the Doc said I was a perfect a$$hole!
Borning and unremarkable are good comments from your anus doctor.
“unremarkable” is good to hear from any doctor.
As an old fart I can say that at present I know two people with bladder cancer. It seems to be going around in the old ages too. Get checked.

Two time cancer survivor here. Early screening works. Go to your doctor and ask questions.
