Too bad, Dukies.
Imagine 11 seed Duke taking on Ole Miss, or even Duke taking on Oregon as a 12 seed. And also another rematch game in the CFP with Notre Dame playing TAMU…again.
Actually, this doesn’t sound any better at all. Maybe they should’ve just stuck with the Top 4, huh?
To answer your question, yes.
Is the ACC not embarrassed they have the guard rails down so they don’t roll a gutter ball?
And of course Notre Dame is the only team in the nation to get a spot specifically reserved for them. Given the audience numbers you published a few days back, I wonder how they keep getting treated this way. At an average of 4.4 million viewers I believe it was, close to ten teams are routinely drawing more eyeballs.
The Pope gets what the Pope wants.
I’d probably cheer for the Dukies over any non-Georgia team they might face. I like the fightin’ Manny Diaz’s.
To me this year’s Duke team is anomaly and the ACC had the opportunity to build rules into their system to prevent a 5 loss team from appearing in the title game.
TPTB are trying to keep the conference title games relevant, but they disproved that theory by including Alabama in this CFP and dropping OSU just one spot when previous conference title game losers at least two spots. SMU dropped just two spots last year after losing in the ACC championship.
The CFP is never going back to 4 so its about refining the system at 12, 16 or 24.
