Best SEC Head Coaches – It’s Certainly a List

Let’s just say it’s easy to say Kirby is #1 and it’s a steep drop off from there, but I have some real questions about this shitposting post from SEC Mike. Of all the lists out there, this is certainly one of them.

First off, as much as Kiffin is a cancer to a program’s culture, he’s higher on my list than DeBoer, and Sarkisian has yet to impress me with anything he’s done with the talent he has

Another glaring oddity is Clark Lea being below Venables and Heupel. Same reasons as Sarkisian, with the talent pool and resources.

And how does Golesh, as much as I hate Golding, beat out Golding when he hasn’t coached a down in the SEC as a head coach yet?

My list, if I had to make one:

  1. – I Have Rings and You Don’t: #1 – Kirby Smart
  2. – I’m Good But Don’t Have Much to Show For It: Clark Lea, Lane Kiffin
  3. – I’ve made the playoffs and not much more: Kalen DeBoer, Brent Venables, Mike Elko, and Pete Golding
  4. – I’ve Made the Playoffs and Kirby Owns Me: Josh Heupel and Steve Sarkisian
  5. – I’m Possibly Mike Stoops Reincarnate: Eli Drinkwitz
  6. – I’m New Here: Ryan Silverfield and Will Stein
    • – I’m New Here and Kirby Will Likely Own Me: Alex Golesh and John Sumrall
  7. – I’m Not New Here But Won’t Be Here Much Longer: Shane Beamer and Jeff Lebby
Need a special teams coordinator, Josh?

I say all this to say, this has been a slow and boring off season. The Sorsby thing gave everyone fodder for writing and there’s a relative lack of Bulldogs news or there to report on. If that means no arrests or offseason shenanigans, I’m all for it.

Anyway, what do you see wrong with the list above?

  1. I might put the unknown and untested coaches ahead of Baby Beamer. That meltdown at Texas aTm was exceptional.

  2. My thoughts on Kiffin are what has he won. How many times has he made his league’s championship game. His best skill to date is personal enrichment. Now I am a big fan of that idea just not at the expense of others.

As for the above list there’s King Kirby and a mixed bag of wannabes.

  3. All those news coaches will soon join many others on the infamous “Kirby Owns Me List “. But l will say they will be richly rewarded and can thank him as they pull their own truckload of cash out of town. $$$$$ 💰💰💰💰💰

  4. Your list is spot on. I’d suggest doing the B1X but after Day, Lanning and what’s his face at Indy I don’t even know the teams much less the coaches.

  5. Its not the murderers row it once was that’s for sure. May have to go back to 1989 to find a field this weak.

  6. aligned with sec mike on #1 and #13.

i predict golding is going to receive a FSU reception when Mr Smart and his companions come to town.

I predict, next year, the lane train will either be the new head coach for Matt McConaughey’s football team or the head coach for the red elephant club football team.

    in kirby i will follow.

  7. I’m no fan of Laner and I HATE OM with a passion but he made them relevant while he was there. I think he’s a pretty good coach. He got OM to their first 10 regular season wins ever. They finished 3rd in the SEC in the regular season. Had we lost another SEC game they’re in the SECG and I think they beat Bama as bad as we did. I hope he doesn’t end up at Bama or TX. I think/hope Golding flames out in the first quarter of the season.
