I feel conflicted about this since the barn door has been blown (don’t be lewd) off the hinges. Powers that be burning fools down for what they promote all cloaked in virtue (prolly coulda wordsmithed that better). Unfortunately, the celebration around dude’s punishment probably pushes gambling issues underground. Nobody is gonna volunteer to get aired out for seeking help. Point all the fingers at me, not in the NFL but when Hines said he’d lie about a concussion before missing a play was how I rolled. I made terrible decisions ignoring help for years – suffering in silence because shared suffering in the job was a virtue. Thankfully there wasn’t point to click gambling on the phone or heyell Instacarting likker and weed (or if you coach Meotchigan Plan B pills for your secretary). This kid will lose everything for not being Ryan Leaf and, yes, he should be punished if he violated rules. I know for a fact (my company’s CEO went to their meeting to learn how to follow UNC’s NIL procedures) that UNC came out with a prohibition on their athletes promoting gambling or adult content.
It just seems like we’re losing the plot.
